Used this advice today and found where the bass were at. Main lake temp was 44.6. Went to a 2 to 3 foot flat back pocket and water was 51.2 and found some schools of around 3 to 4 pounders. They were not interested in biting anything I tossed at them tho lol.

It's definitely a myth that bass are only iij n deep water.me and my brother fish shallow all years round and we've always caught bass.in fact we decided to bank fish today because of high winds, my nephew caught a 5 lb bass about 10 ft from the bank with a trick worm on a shakey head

Good info Glenn. Thx 4 sharing with us. Gives us bank anglers hope we dont have to have a boat to fish deep in winter. Especially since im in CA

Good tip you sent out, in the Tennessee river in spots near the damn are very shallow an most depth you may get 18 for deep so they are for sure shallow at times in the winter

Great point! I catch 5lb largemouth in 2-6 fow through the ice here in CT. Seasonal patterns are important but The body of water and also forage plays a big role in where they stage.

What are your thoughts on replacing the front treble hook with a red one or just using red hooks in general fishing?

in the winter months I'll use a Shakey head with a zoom trick worm a 4 inch tube jig or a yum craw bug some thing I can keep close to the bottom around what ever cover is available and that I can bounce off the bottom as slow as possible these three bait's are my go to bait's when the fishing is really tuff as for the color's I use that depends on what the bass are feeding on and the clarity of the water

Good info here.
Fish don't live in one depth.
Experiment fishing at different depths with different lures.
Thanks for sharing.

Caught several nice ones the other day in five foot of water on my home lake water temp was 53 average but the sun was out and it got up to 73 degrees that day compared to the mid 40's day and low 30's at night we've been having for a while. This was after 6 inches of rain the day before. Dragging a chatter bait across points, bumping the bottom, just slow enough to feel the blade wiggle some.

In the Mid-West Missouri, I've seen a Warming trend in the Month of February. Sunny day in the mid 40's & Bass suspended. I caught them on a 1/2oz Rattle Trap. Chrome & Black back. The fish will bite.

So so true Glenn, over the weekend here in Rhode Island We had a warming trend for a couple of days where it went up to close to 60 and 3-4 inches of rain and I hooked an Striper in my private pond in 4 feet of water, I lost him but the 3 minute fight was AWESOME, awesome video buddy 👊👍

I don’t believe ALL the rules.
I know there are fish that spawn in 10-15’ of water. I have caught them. Not all fish go shallow to spawn. The majority do yes. But not 100% all of them.
Bass roam in packs. But there are some fish for no explanation that stay alone. Like some humans. Some fish stay shallow the whole life all year and some stay deep all year.
Same with migration in the fall. Most migrate but not all.
