I had under 100 subscribers a year ago and all my videos had under 100 views when all of a sudden one of my videos was shown to over 700, 000 people and got me 45k views and 111 subscribers. So I kept doing the same format for following videos and for a little while they were doing pretty well too. Then all of a sudden my videos started performing horribly. Weren’t being shown to nearly as many people and weren’t getting more than a couple hundred views. In order to improve my statistics I invested in better camera gear and started editing more to keep the videos more engaging. So far this past year I’ve managed to gain a few more subscribers, up to 442 now, but nothing like the growth I experienced a little more than a year ago. I know my videos have only gotten better and I’ve incorporated a lot of the things I’ve learned from this channel, but my videos still don’t get shown to nearly as many people as they used to. Which is s shame because if youtube pushed them like they did my older ones I would have had well over 1000 subscribers by now. Im still grinding though, hopefully I’ll be able to catch the algorithm wave again! 🙏

What does it mean on the graph 1:17 when it dips, then jumps back up. What's that uptick? What's going on there? As for shorts and using the link for "Related video" it definitely works. I use it on all short-form videos, and it does drive views to the long-form content. But there is a tradeoff. The viewers coming from short videos do not watch for very long and will drive down "Average percentage viewed."

one thing about the youtube editor that a lot of people have complained about and ive even had be an issue is that sometimes it just freezes and doesnt save. this means you could be stuck in the editor for ages for no reason only to close it and realise nothings changed and you have to try editing it again.
