Facial Paralysis Exercises (for Bell's Palsy)

Показать описание
Bell’s palsy is when one side of the face becomes paralyzed. Movement of the eye, forehead, nose, and lips may be difficult if not impossible. However, along with medical treatment, physical therapy can help restore movement to the paralyzed face, just like physical therapy can help restore arm and leg movement for somebody who has suffered a stroke.

When there is no movement present at all, the following exercises are helpful in attempting to reinitiate some movement. It is important to focus on the effort or quality of the movement rather than the quantity of movement. The quality of effort is to really focus and concentrate HARD on trying to get the paralyzed side moving symmetrically with the normal side.

All exercises to be performed twice a day, 5-10 repetitions each time. And perform these in front of the mirror so you can visually monitor your efforts! The visual feedback is important!

Hey there, I'm Yeron, 19 years old. About 2 weeks ago, I started experiencing symptoms of Bell's Palsy and decided to visit a renowned neurologist in my city. The first sign was my left eye not blinking and my eyebrow not moving. After the diagnosis, I felt discouraged when I saw how Bell's Palsy can affect one's appearance. However, I came across a comment from someone who said they healed after 3 weeks by doing regular exercises and taking medication as prescribed.

I followed their advice diligently and within 2 weeks, I've seen a 90% improvement. It's crucial to take your medication on time as advised by your pharmacist and dedicate at least 4 hours a day to exercises. Focus on the quality of your exercises rather than the quantity, and pay extra attention to the weakest muscles. In my case, it was my lip and eye muscles that needed more work, but with consistent effort and medication, my face has significantly recovered.

Remember to stay positive and embrace change. I hope for a full recovery for anyone going through this. Stay strong!

I hope to recover soon. I've had it for one week now. It's not good 😏 I don't know if blurry vision and a dry mouth is part of too. My chiropractor said bell palsy comes from being in the cold and that makes sense. That day when it happened it was very cold and I was stupid enough to be outside a lot without a warm jacket. I'd like to encourage everyone to keep yourself warm and don't risk it

If you're not too sure if you have then you need to go to the ER. They'll check you out to see what you have and prescribe you some medicine.
You NEED the medicine to help you heal along with the exercises.
The MD may not show you how to do the facial exercises but these videos on YouTube do Help.

I’ve been dealing with Bell’s palsy my whole life, I honestly can’t remember when it started but I’m 31 now. When I was younger my parents sought help and i remember taking steroids but hated it and begged them to stop. So here I am, still with partial facial paralysis. How can I fix this? I try to massage my face when I can..but it’s very disheartening sometimes.

I had a facelift 15 months ago, and since then, my left eyebrow has been immobile. It has a little movement at the end of the brow, and that’s all. I have lost my facial expression, and I feel so worried that it will stay that way. I started physical therapy and electrotherapy. I have used Proserin and Nuclo injections, but none of these have helped. What can I do?

Why use an actor instead of a therapist or nurse?
