It's pretty cool to see these emulators get better and better. Especially with the lack of game preservation these days.

It's super interesting that we reach the era of stable 7.generation emulations. Things like Xbox 360, PS3, WiiU are almost on that level.
I'm happy that we keep researching behind them. It's super important for preservation.

The steam deck is the gold standard for portable gaming.

For Condemned 1, definetly recomand the PC port. Like FEAR 1, it supports soft shadows if FSAA is disabled. (X360 only has hard, stencil shadows a la Doom 3). There is also an A.I. upscaled texture mod and a proper 16:9 mod for UI elements and the loading screens artwork. Great improvements.

9:10 Condemned Criminal Origins has a PC version which continues to be sold on Steam to this day.Would be nice to test Condemned 2 since that is exclusive to consoles!

Day 1 360 owner here. I had perfect dark zero at launch and I had a good time with using bots in local multi-player. I didn't have a internet connection back then. I would put bots in a small map and set it to rockets only, I would then hide somewhere and use the secondary firing mode to pilot the rockets around the map chasing bots. Or I would find them fighting each other and get 2 or 3 at a time. I had a good time with the game in this regard, pretty entertaining I thought.

Both Xenia and Steam Deck are impressive and having PS3/X360 and Wii generation of games emulated on a handheld is mind-blowing!

Due to the rumors about the Xenia performance boost, I finally did a Call of Juarez 1 playthrough. Seing 120 fps locked (or more) was hilarious. At 720p, the game dislikes rez scaling. It was a great experience. Just fully finished a playthrough.

Wow, that is wild. I was of the impression that Xbox 360 Emulation is still in its infancy. But I'm very pleasantly surprised.

It actually brings tears to my eyes to see that we are emulating Xbox 360 and Playstation 3s on a handheld device. I recall an issue of Next Generation Gaming or EGM magazine that said that we would have PlayStation 3 power level handheld devices by 2030. At the time I thought that it was ridiculous because the PlayStation 2 was the fresh hot thing and I just could not imagine anything strong enough to emulate that on handheld. I am so happy that we are finally at this point and I hope that the community continues to drive us forward into better and better emulation.

Condemned is a strange recommendation. It's still available on Steam and is Steam Deck playable. I haven't tried it, myself, but perhaps I will.

If you would have told me I could have a PS3 or Xbox 360 the size of the Steam Deck just a few years go, I'd think you were tripping.

My deck has become my prime console now, I love my 165hz monitor but something about being able to play mass effect anywhere I want is just absolutely mind blowing to me. I'll have to try out Xbox 360 emulation.

Very impressive achievement from Xenia team!
Hope to see this on Linux as well! Not touching Windows with a 10ft pole

This is exactly what I want the Steam Deck for, being an emulation machine primarily.

From a technical standpoint, what changed in the canary branch to cause such significant improvements? Do you know what they specifically optimized? @ModernVintageGamer

It's amazing that you can run Xbox 360 games without any issues on Steam Deck. Thumbs up to developers.

Imagine how much better it will be when there's a good version for steamos. My god, it will be spectacular! Do another video on it when the stable version is on steamos.

Hey, I hit you up on Twitter with this the day it came out. This was a game-changer update, Saints Row went from 15fps average on a 3080 to a fixed 30fps (the frame rate cap). It was absolutely amazing, and I happened to pick it up mere hours after the PR was merged. It was incredible.
