This week's video is about Trauma responses! Most people only know the first three, but what are the others? How do they all work? What is our brain doing when we experience a trauma response like this?

i cant hear "fight flight fawn freeze and flop" without thinking of the short now 😂

I find that fawn is more complicated to break because it's behaviors are so celebrated. So working on not immediately going into that response is seen as disgustingly selfish and back stabbing.

Hi! I just wanted to say thank you for talking about this! So many people talk about fight and flight, sometimes people talk about freeze. Fawn and flop are not talked about enough. As a persecutor who is trying to recover, I used to mock our former host and other traumaholders for their freeze response to our past abusers. I'm trying to heal though and rationalizing that their freeze response wasn't their choice. It was our body's reaction. I'm in denial that I'm possibly a traumaholder. -Medusa

It was very validating for me to hear you talk about how going nonverbal can be a trauma response. I go nonverbal often when I'm triggered and it can feel very isolating especially because those around me don't understand. Thank you for talking about this. Side Note: I love the pink hair

Welp, that explains a lot. Our host freezes (usually by way of avoidance/procrastination), nurturer flees, protector fights, and the little fawns, all of which amounts to some confusing responses to stress, especially when said stress triggers a switch out of nowhere.

LOVE your makeup today btw! Thanks for sharing even if it's not your style, Soren. Art is art and y'all are good at it!

The accountability segment is SO important. I know far too many people who use their trauma and/or mental illness as an excuse to be abusive or otherwise shitty towards others. Our traumas and/or mental illnesses may be the EXPLANATION as to why we behave differently in certain scenarios, but it is NEVER an excuse, nor does it make it okay. 👏 ACCOUBTABILITY!!! 👏

i've never heard someone describe how it feels to fawn better than here... thank you guys for helping me feel seen. i've been called spineless before because i just go with the flow in triggering situations, even if deep down i really don't want to - anything to keep myself safe from the perceived threat(s).
also, i've never heard of flop, but it makes total sense!! thank you guys for this video, very educational as always ❤❤

Can I just say....I really like the new editing style! The zooms, the wipes, the "whoosh!" noises, the fonts...all of it. It's fire.

And the makeup is *chef's kiss*, for whatever my opinion counts towards. :)

This is so interesting! I always interpreted “fight or flight” in a very literal way, I never realized it could manifest in the more nuanced ways you mentioned. Thank you for sharing!

Oh my gosh.. no one's ever talked about flop / faint to us before! This really resonates with a triggering incident that occurred recently and I wanted to educate my managers on why I had my response. (I got in trouble for not "walking away" despite telling them I was in a catatonic state due to having a trauma response to the incident.)
This was so validating. Thank you. 💛

I just realised something about myself and I’m going to chat with my therapist tomorrow and take her up on that two sessions a week offer from last Monday. Thank you :]

As someone who's had PTSD, this has been such an informative video for me to understand more about how I used to react with my triggers. I wish I could've seen this during my early days of recovering, but I'm happy to say that I've also had such huge progress in my healing overtime after more than a year 💖

I rly admire how Soren just radiated all throughout the video too! Your content and fun makeup look/styles really inspires me to explore my personal style more as well 💖
