The most expensive thing in Paris is the rent… He eats out a lot, because almost 900€ for food is really expensive. Normally, it's around 200€-250€ for an adult, if you go outside, it can go up really quickly.

Renter insurance or "home insurance policy" in France helps protect both tenants and homeowners of an apartment or house against any type of incident that may occur. For example, if a water leak appears while you're away and the apartment below needs renovation, the insurance will cover it. If you lose your keys and need to call a locksmith at 2 a.m. on a Saturday, the insurance may also cover it (depending on the terms and conditions). This insurance is mandatory for tenants and strongly recommended for homeowners.

I think he spends a lot in food because he often go to restaurants and cafés. Because for him alone and his dog, it normally costs 200 to 400€ and only if he goes to middle or high end markets and boutiques. You can go down to 150-200€ if you go to budget supermaket.

Sorry for my english, I'm french and dont speak english often. I hope I was clear in my explanations.

Hi, I lived in Paris for 10 years in the 1980s, then my parents left because the charges were really too high.
they moved to the Paris suburbs, 35 km from Paris.

By selling their 60m2 property in Gambetta, Paris 20ème, my parents advanced practically nothing, just the 850m2 plot of land. The house has a total basement area of 125 m2.
The price per m2 is estimated at between $7, 000 and $16, 000 depending on the arrondissement....

I work at Roissy and live in the Oise region, 60km from Paris. For example, I bought a detached house for $250, 000 for 156 m2 on 800m2 of land in Paris, depending on the arrondissement, which is between 35m2 and 16m2. ...

let's just say that the German shepherd would be cramped..lol.

of course you need a car but I'm super happy I wake up with the hill and the forest in the distance, and how peaceful it is despite a city of 60, 000 inhabitants next door... I have almost everything on site - the town hall and town hall for passports, it was quick, I have fibre internet, 5 doctors, 2 osteopaths, 2 dentists, midwives, etc... fire station, gendarmerie - my little village of 2800 people only lacks a large supermarket, but 2 km away I have a supermarket...

It's impossible to live in Paris on €3, 200 ($3, 466) a month.
I'm a logistics technician at Roissy, my wife used to be a data entry operator in the asbestos construction industry, but she's now disabled. The 2 of us used to earn 5500€/ ( 5968$ ) month, which was a bit more comfortable...

I have lived in Paris for a number of years -- it will not cost you $8000 a mons if you buy your food from the supermarket and cook it. I bet he spent half of his time eating in the restaurant.
Also, I have noticed that he lives in the 9th arrondissement of Paris which the most expensive part of Paris. this privilege has a cost.

He probably eat at the restaurant twice a day to spend so much on food. This is an unrealistic amount for a single person. It's the budget of at least two people, if not three

As a french living close to Paris, Inner Paris as the second most expensive cost of living in the world after Singapore. Better live in the suburb towns around. in the world of today and overtourisms, inner Paris is for Tourists, Air BNB and millionnaires. Excepted if you like living like a rat.... and with Rats...

Greetings from France :)

3:03 They do, but still wont care. XD
Here administrations are at the same time the worst kafkaian nightmare and a bliss in some cases : every single box on a paper has to be filled, but if some useful data has no dedicated space to be mentioned they couldn't care less to ask about it. Also lose any hope of a proactive administration... unless extreme occasions, they wont go by themselves after anyone for a small issue, it would be too much struggle as paperwork are darn heavy for them too. State employees are said to be lazy, but after decades of budget cuts they are less and less to make more an more, and they really are not into pushing even additional work if their hierarchy didn't ask for it.

Plus most of them are not allowed to go on internet during their work time, and when shift ends at 5pm almost none of them think for the slightest second to make unpaid overtime. There surely are some over zealous agents doing it, but they must be in pain to not live in the right country and should move to Scandinavia ASAP if they want to avoid sliding into insanity.

On Food AND groceries, i spend on average 190 euros a month, all included. But i don't eat outside, and i cook EVERYTHING myself (meaning making the bases myself, too). This guy spends A LOT. 800+ euros on food only...? Nobody does that. The 17$ a month is probably his appartment's insurance. I pay 9 euros for mine (SW France). In Paris, what would cost the most is appartment rent. In my cities, in SW France, i rent a 35m² in center town for 415 euros/ month. But the same appartment in Paris would likely cost the double.

France is the ideal country for meadows and retirees you can find a beautiful country house not too expensive 150 to 250 k in small beautiful villages. With very good quality medical care. Personally I am selling a property of 440 m2 of 50k of land in the countryside of the southwest. so take the step.

Paris is nice (at least it was 20 years ago).
Not as friendly as where I lived at the time Nancy but it’s a much bigger city.
You have to look out for con artists at the usual tourist hotspots.
