My hidden comment: I don't think such a marketing strategy would continue (a) it requires constant creativity (b) people would get bored (c) so therefore, the firm would need to move beyond marketing

Hey Akshat, Was waiting for someone to talk about their Marketing Strategy! :) with respect to their Ad campaign, I had observed couple of things :
1. The first few Ads seemed to be like testing waters for Cred. They made quick small Ads to see the response of the audience and whether it's reaching the target they aimed it at.
2. After the first Ad, they added subtitles as I think most of us wouldn't have caught on to what the Audition taking person was speaking. I remember first time seeing the Ad and wondering what is the connection between until they added the subtitles. That was again a feedback they had taken most likely from audience reactions.
3. They now had enough data to suggest that "nostalgia" based Ads did reach their target audience (as you mentioned above 25 and middle aged) . It was time to go big in their next Ad.
4. What is the strongest "nostalgia" "T"rigger for Indian audience than Cricket ? I'm pretty sure they would have been some discussion choosing one of the legendry players for this Ad. They chose Rahul Dravid to show unpopular opinion in a way that would stun most people and make them wonder if this side really exists to such an iconically calm person. The remaining totally Aligns with your detailed analysis using "STEPPS" strategy. Wonderful Video for sure!

Loved the STEPPS approach used to decode Cred’s strategy, will definitely check out the book Contagious. To answer the question at the end of the video, this strategy is not sustainable because at one point, word of mouth will have reached complete saturation and if the practical value addition in their product doesn’t increase, all of these efforts will be in vain. Thanks for this!

I wonder why Kunal is making such expensive advertisements, What happened to his Delta4 theory of growing without ads. But i love this man's creativity, sending birthday cakes to user's offices in their initial days is brilliant.

Started with capturing the loophole in the credit card payment leakages and fixing it and acquiring mostly wealthy individuals as it’s trustworthy users and slowly transforming to an e commerce site for these users and posed to generate high revenues in the near future….indeed a genius strategy!

Great video Akshat.
Creds is App facilitating Creditcard Payment.
In return
1. your credit spend to make your profile to target add to you. ( they access your email for your statement)
2. they promote products by giving you discount to buy that product using cred coins.

I think this is in gray area which Founders are making use of.
Still this is speculation.
There has been huge mistry around way CRED earns or planning to earn.
Helping more Word of Mouth.

Interesting. My opinion is that such marketing gimmicks could prove costly if the company is not able to monetize the spend soon. In near future we may have other existing payment companies provide the same service as cred. The only USP is Cred gives a feeling of an app being used by people of higher status or ones who spend lavishly.
