Once I started getting rid of my stuff I felt so much better. Having less is better, and also I find having a relatively small apartment is so helpful. There is less to clean for one thing. That is a good point about big houses keeping everyone apart also. I don’t have a T V I just stream everything on my mini iPad. Excellent video Margaret.

I always enjoy my cup of tea while I watch your videos. Today it's a turmeric and ginger tea. I am 57 years old and have started getting rid of things that I truly do not need, especially furniture. When my brother passed away 3 years ago, the family spent over a year going through his stuff. He saved everything....even college books from 25 years prior. I don't want my daughter going through that if something should happen to me. Less is much better. We can't take it with us.

Less seems better to me. But it is also important to have enough. To have our needs and a few wants is the best.

Thank you Margaret! I wish that I saw this 2 years ago! I started intense cardmaking and have spent thousands of dollars on 'stuff'! I have found in the past few months that I use 1/3 of the items and am starting to gather things to sell. It makes me feel good everytime I empty a shelf! I looked at your video and realized it's time to get to my clothes! I am planning to downsize my home next. Whew! This is life changing...after hitting 60 I began to get restless and really want change! Your videos and the comments from fellow 60s have boosted my incentive and courage to change. Thanks to you & the community!💝

I disconnected my TV cable 5 days ago and so now I am not going to be watching any TV. I have not missed it one bit. I am using my extra time to look at all my interesting YouTube videos. I am learning so much from them and I am also using sometime to start reading. I really got tired of paying 4 shows on TV that were violent, boring, and just not worth my time. Videos like yours are wonderful. I love watching yours and I learn a lot. Thank you

Hello Margaret love your daily posts! I accept the 'trend' for having less is worth looking at but I feel it's just a trend. I adore all my stuff - lots of relics and mementos around the place thus invoking precious reminders of my good fortune. My cosy well - stocked kitchen beckons and welcomes whoever enters therein.

Hello Margaret, I am very interested in downsizing. Would you consider doing a video tour of your studio apartment showing how you utilise the space, storage etc? Thank you.

Hi Margaret, excellent video, been married 40 years and I (we) want to downsize, my Mom left all her house and belongings up to sister and me to manage the Estate sale and listing her home to sale, as she is in nursing home. I don’t want to burden the one son with this and the other son is mentally challenged, time to start doing, appreciate your insight and giving we viewers Joshua Becker to look up, thanks again, be well!

My mom used to say, if you had only five outfits to choose from, you could get ready faster! True! And my cable t.v bill awful, going to cut that service soon.thanks for this channel!😇

My husband and I also disconnected or cable TV about a year ago to cut down on expenses and there was really nothing to watch except for the news which is always depressing.
We discovered the many interesting things on YouTube including your Channel. We also downsized much of our possession 6 years ago and moved into a one-bedroom Cottage. Growing up in the 60s and 70s my parents many times bought Us toys or games to share amongst the five of us children. we learned to play together, try to get along and even though we lived in a big house we didn't have a lot of stuff. I truly think about the example of my grandmother who lived minimalistic... enjoyed her possessions, but didn't hoard or collect a lot of things. Her life was full of experiences and not things and I realized in my Twenties that I wanted more experiences and less possessions. I have lived simply for most of my adult life and now in my sixties am still refining the amount of possessions that I currently own and look forward to more experiences instead. Thanks for sharing,
Reggie in New York

Margaret, love to listen to you and your researched and gathered together pieces of living wisdom. I did a double take when hearing 'hubby ' instead of 'hobby". I started the morning with a belly laugh.

Some good points that I have used and some to try. Thank you for your work.
Trust you are having a wonderful time on your ship.

I try to separate myself at the age of more and more things. I realize in my age that less is actually more. I have similar memories as you Margaret as far as the past is concerned. Thanks for sharing this. I appriciate your videos and your work very much.

Hi, Margafet! Thank you so much for your great videos and website. They really do add so much to my life! I would say less is better up to a point. It's truly a First World problem to be so cluttered. When I was living paycheck to paycheck, I felt the need to collect more stuff because I didn't know if I would be able to purchase things at another time. Once I stopped living paycheck to paycheck, I was much more comfortable getting rid of things I didn't need and not buying other stuff because I knew I could buy stuff as I needed it. Now my struggle is paperwork. I don't know how to organize it or when I can safely get rid of paperwork like financial documents. It's a real work in progress! Have a great day, Margaret and everyone in the Sixth and Me community!

I realized a decade ago, in my 50s, (I'm 63) when I lived in a college dorm for two semesters that I really didn't need much: my books, computer, music, and internet access. My mom is a hoarder. She lives in a large house and it was filled to the brim. We threw out and gave away a lot of stuff so I could move in and take care of her (my dad died several years ago). I don't want my children to have to do the same for me one day. Most of my worldly goods fit in my bedroom and in the studio where I work and do my hobby (with very few supplies). I declutter my own things when I feel like they're taking up too much space. I long for a tiny house with less to clean :)

Quality verses Quantity. Always! Whether it is materialistic or experiences or just life itself. A good memory never fades or gets tossed in a recycle bin! I once had a friend who couldn’t believe that I did not own a Melon Baller! I simply replied that I didn’t need it just sitting in my kitchen drawer 10 months out of the year as I usually only buy melons when they are in season. When she asked “but how do you function without one?!” I said “what’s wrong with using a spoon?” That’s my philosophy about most things. I need spoons so what all can I do with a spoon?! I don’t need melon ballers cluttering up my life!
