This is such a beautiful thing. Shoutout to all my native and indigenous peoples rejecting colonization and getting back to their ancestral roots!

Thank you, Lydia, for sharing some of your culture with us!

What people who are colonized don’t get (yes, Caucasians were colonized too, but centuries ago, so they think their colonized beliefs are their indigenous mysteries and they’re wrong) is that indigenous spirituality has many mysteries that can only be experienced. Sharing all of it has no advantage for the listener (if they are even listening at all) and even less advantage for the teller. Lydia shared what she could to at least let us all know that the Maori are here and exist and have their own unique culture so that everyone can be educated and be sensitive and empathetic to her people. She did not share their spiritual mysteries, which are not to be shared with outsiders, and I would never expect her to. All my love to Lynia!

I love the have found a balance of sharing your culture so those of us not familiar can learn but also said it won’t all go on the internet as some is kept sacred. That’s a beautiful way of keeping traditional and also being in the present time without letting what the present times are take over completely. You are stunning and seem like a wonderful woman x

I am a 58 year old white lady, skipping along thinking I'm all English blood oh no no no I wasn't the little white English girl the Maoris were protecting from abuse, they saw me as Waka so I just found out, the Maoris used to call me the little white Maori girl and cats eyes, I always wondered why I navigated towards tribal people, I have been living in Australia for 41 years now.

I'm very curious about the gestures (dance?) and facial expressions Lynia makes throughout the video. Can someone explain the context behind them?

One thing I would say as a Māori who loves the gospel of Jesus - just remember the hands that delivered the word of God were colonised hands… but that doesn’t make the Word itself colonised. Please don’t close your hearts to the beauty of Jesus because the people who delivered it were hypocrites who actually are the very type of people Jesus speaks of as ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ and ‘a brood of vipers’. Gods best Blessings to all reading this ❤
