2024 Lexus LBX Review | Small SUV is cheapest way into a Lexus, but worth it?

While rival luxury brands push ever higher upmarket, Japan’s Lexus has decided to introduce a more affordable model, the 2024 Lexus LBX small SUV.

Just under 4.2 metres long, the LBX is a petrol-electric hybrid that comes in three flavours priced from $47,550 plus on-road costs.

If you think there’s some similarities here with the Toyota Yaris Cross, you’re spot on. The two cars share basic powertrains and platforms, although Lexus says the work it’s done to create and differentiate the LBX more than justifies the $20,000 added to the price tag.

Have they succeeded? Watch our video for the answer…

For a quick review, I found it pretty informative.

If it had a slightly bigger engine with the same price, id be more keen!

I’m comparing the Luxury LBX to a similarly priced Toyota CHR and a Renault Megan e-tech. There are big differences in specs of the cars. Once I have test driven all three it will be easier tell which one is best.

The reviewer mentioned 3 Lbx models. I can find only 2 on the local Lexus website.

I think they could've spared some efficiency for the sake of better performance. It is a premium car after all and would have made the price an easier pill to swallow for this class.

When describing the engine, the graphic on the screen describes it as a turbo-petrol. I do not think it is. It is a naturally aspirated hybrid.

Turbo engine? As far as I know they come without turb, which explains 136 bhp.

When Lexus CT200H was sold back in 2016 it was actually a worthwhile purchase because the price was in 30K range. Now you can get a way better Kia or a Hyandai around the same price. They are as reliable as Toyotas/Lexus and are fun to drive. There is absolutely no way this is worth 54K - 64K.

I own a Lexus and I love Lexus,
But this is not a Lexus,
doesn't seem worth it.

3 cylinder $56900?!
Car cost = $36900
$20000 = lexus badge cost😂

Lexus should redesign the front grille of the car: The front grille of the car is so big out of proportion and ugly !?!

This is as much nonsense as having a Range Rover hatchback! Completely off brand

Lexus can’t sell their overpriced cars here in Australia. So they bring this cheap luxury car to feed their dealers across the country 😂😂😂

Nope. A Yaris with a different badge and some leather is still a glorified overpriced Yaris.

How can they call it a Lexus product when it doesn’t even have rear aircon vents and a back arm rest.

Just spend the extra $5k for a Euro. Toyota and Lexus are now run by accountants, not engineers.

Crap product.
