Video was informative & all, but it didn't really do much to explain why I have no memory or the barcode on the back of my neck... Oh hold on, two gentleman from the government have just showed up to "explain things" to me while we go for a ride in their car with the blacked out windows. Wish me luck!

Last year in my math class we had to make barcodes for different things and I got the "human barcode scanner award" for being the fastest to read a barcode in my class xD

Fantech have a cleaver youtube explanation on using QR codes as a support and information tool for already purchased products. They're such an underrated tool. I don't get why they aren't used more.

The venerable barcode is not going anywhere, its still very useful in the retail space and is basically just a quick way to read a serial number, which itself is often written at the bottom of the barcode just in case the barcode is damaged or unreadable. Also the barcode rarely stores anything more than just a serial number, the rest is stored on a database on a computer. While QR codes are great, they still need more high tech devices, barcode scanners are often cheaper and ubiquitous and very easy to use. Also barcode scanners are moving away from lasers for reading as the lasers could be harmful if pointed at the eyes. Newer models use LEDs and are still pretty accurate.

While UPC is probably the dominant barcode type in the US and Canada, EAN is by far the most common in Europe, with the most common one of those being EAN-13.

Also, QR code scanning has become insanely fast, without using the cloud. In my group at university we are working with qr and bar code scanning libraries that don't connect to the cloud, so all the processing is done on the phone. The two limiting factors for all the phones we have tested are camera launch speed and autofocus speed, since the processing itself is instant.

Anyone else carefully and painstakingly edit the QR code at 3:42 to make it flat only to find that it didn't work in any QR scanner they tried?

From Excel data to barcode labels - First enter multiple barcode numbers in Excel, then import them into our barcode generator software to make bulk barcode labels, this way canl great improve the work efficiency.

I was really curious about the suspense in the beginning what was it about ! though I search for how bar codes and QR codes work.
