Two thoughts occurred to me:
1) The meek shall inherit the earth.
2) John Wooden reminds me of Mr. Roger’s. Both had strong personal faith in God. Both mild mannered. Both saw themselves as teachers.

This is Gold. It’s amazing that videos like this don’t have a billion views.

Not only was he an incredibly inspiring human being and widely considered the greatest coach ever, Coach Wooden was also college basketball's first three-time All-American when he played at Purdue in the early 1930s.

Much respect to this man. What an honor to meet someone with such humility in his heart. Humbled by his accomplishments in life and by his persona.

I just got done watching a video of Bob knight trash John Wooden about how he dosen't respect Wooden because of his recruiting practices. John Wooden is so awesome as a person as much as a coach. I would take Wooden as a coach more than anyone.

If Coach John Wooden would've seen the way the Golden State Warriors plays unselfishly in the Pro level he would've been proud! His Pyramid for Success were emphasized countless times to play as a Team by Coach Pop and now by Coach

The funniest thing about John Wooden, is had he not started coaching in the era he did, he probably would not have survived. His first 10 years coaching were nothing special, and even the UCLA of today would have dismissed him at that point.

And had they done so, they would have lost something special. The real secret to John Wooden, is he always studied basketball, and coaching. Then he took the lessons he learned, and applied them to himself, and got better all the time.

That is a success principal anyone anywhere can do.

Give me a break there was a booster that violated numerous NCAA rules and every damn body knew it but wouldn't do anything about it. Wooden may have been a good coach but he got the best players because many of them knew they would be catered to. I heard Kareem Abdul Jabbar say he could get anything he wanted while at UCLA. I'll take Dean Smith any day and he wouldn't have tolerated boosters giving his players free stuff under the table, or no show jobs, or money. They wouldn't do anything to Wooden because they were afraid what the scandal would lead to.
