Quick clarification: as there are a lot of ideas on what dark matter could be, the explanation mentioned in the video is just one of many many possible particles that could create dark matter effects. Strangelets as they are known are a very possible phenomenon and they are a lot more likely to exist than some of the other proposed explanations such as WIMPs or Axions.

Obviously we still have no idea what dark matter is truly made out of or if it's just one type of particles or a mixture of many - but strangelets specifically are very interesting because they have also been hypothesizes as byproducts of various activities on Earth, e.g. high speed collisions in particle accelerators.
