Couple rescues injured hiker who was stranded in SoCal wilderness for 2 weeks

Went hiking alone with no cell phone (not that cell phones always work out in the six). I hope he will not do that again. So good that the couple came along when they did.

I watched several videos about hikers dying, so it's good to see a story ending like that!

This is why, if you have to choose between hiking with a cell phone or salsa, always pick salsa. Salsa will keep you going for two weeks. Though I guess you could order a pizza with the phone.

His first mistake is that he told no one his itinerary. Whether you go hunting/fishing /camping or any outdoor sports, always tell someone your whereabouts. Always carry a mirror polished stainless steel water bottle. leave your plastic at home. With a mirror polished water bottle, he could've flashed for help which you can't do with a plastic water bottle. Always carry a knife and fire making kits. You can cut kindling with your knife and built a campfire with your fire making kit. Your campfire can become a signaling device by adding dead leaves and spruce/pine/fir branches. It will make huge bloom of smoke that will attract rescuers. If you can't do any of those, then, always carry on your person a small survival kit. It's worth its weight in gold

Glad he was found and is recovering Wait until he gets the bill for $18, 000 for the helicopter ride. I broke my leg in 2005 a 15 minute helicopter ride was $8300 back then luckily I was insured hopefully this man is too

I wonder if a lot of hikers that went missing and were never found either had swollen feet like him and also got lost... I also think some of them could've had heart attacks or fallen off cliffs accidentally... poor souls, you just never know when it's time to meet Jesus. Love him and your family and friends.

Magic Mountain is a 5-6 hour hike from there. The Valley is even closer. Two weeks? You walk south for a few hours or in almost any direction and you'll hit a road, city or houses.
