This ancient landscape is being safeguarded for the future, with nature given the opportunity to revive and thrive. The Atholl Estates have a long tradition of woodland management, as well as commercial forestry. Julie discovers how the historic woodland is being preserved and nurtured. An iconic image of Scotland are Highland cattle grazing the hills – Julie hears how the highland cattle on the estate are helping regenerate the landscape. Highland ponies have long worked and been bred on the Atholl Estates – their blood line dating as far back as the 1860s. Both Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II were passionate about these beautiful poniesl Julie takes a walk on the hills with some Highland ponies to hear how they are upholding highland traditions.

Love how relaxed you were around the cows and Gordon really did have just the right personality to help you along the way! As a MacGregor, yes THOSE people. I grew up knowing all about the Highlands. I attended the games. Love the bagpipes. Wear my plaid. And my greatest wish is to go to and even live in the Highlands. Mostly when I was younger because I was tired of being referred to as... "You know, the redhead. Wouldn't it be great to be lost in a crowd and not found out just because of my hair? I live in Oregon which, to me, is nearly as beautiful.
