03 5.9 Cummins With Bad Engine Knock (Caution! It's going to make you Cringe!)

I watched a video just like this same sound and it was an injector. Disconnect the #1 injector and see if it changes. If not do #6. Those are the 2 main culprets as far as injector failure. If not #6 then check the rest. It sounds just like an injector knock!

If it were mine I think I’d start with relative compression test (or even just listen to it crank) and probably check valve gap. If it dropped a valve seat or bent a valve, valve gap on that one is likely WAY out of spec.

I've heard brand new (less than 5 year old Freightliner M2s and International Durastars delivery/rental trucks with the 6.7 that sound the same.

So i have a faint knocking just off idle, did an injector cut out test and it stops when i cut out #6, getting ready to buy a reman injector for it, where is a good source that wont break the bank? And do you think the injector is most likely the culprit, sounds good at idle and in the upper part of the rpm range. Thanks for the videos😁

That’s the injectors, not the motor. These motors never have problems.

Hello, I've seen a couple videos on this issue. Mine sounds the same at start up, goes away after about 5/10 seconds then goes away, if I press the gas it does it and worse the longer I press on it. Would this be injectors issue? Already tried disconnecting one at a time but didn't year a difference. Any ideas??

It sounds just like an injector getting stuck no fuel going to the injector or check your cross over tubes
