I also fly a golem and can run any level 4 mission in 20 minutes or less using auto-target missiles. Can be done faster if you actively target and match their weaknesses, though. That being said, my first level 4 ship was in fact a Sniper Dominix. All I did was fit for range, jump into the headspace, jump 100k in a direction, and then pick them off slowly from range. 99% of the time, you take zero damage. It is effective and safe, as long as you stay clear of the Gurista Pirates. You can't outrange their missiles.

I LOVE the Dominix. It's the first BS I ever flew and as someone who favors using drones, it is right in my wheelhouse.

The Domi was my first major level 4 mission runner. It wasn't enough for me of course. I run all my lvl 4 missions in a 6-billion isk Rattlesnake. There's a lot of good strategy in this build. It's so scary for me seeing shields disappear though. LOL The Rattlesnake has spoiled me.

Navi Domi isn't a simple upgrade from standard Domi. You do loose significant bonuses:

10% bonus to Drone hitpoints and damage
7.5% bonus to Drone optimal range and tracking speed

vs

10% bonus to Drone hitpoints, damage and tracking
7.5% bonus to Large Hybrid Turret damage
7.5% bonus to Armor Repairer amount

make the Navy version less apt at being a sentry sniper. The base domi has 30% more range with IV skill, which is very significant, basicly making distance your tank. ND fights closer, benefits from LAR bonus for active tank. I haven't played with it, so I can't comment much. I think it could face-tank better than the Domi, exporing possible blaster fits.

The real upgrade from the Domi (and missile boats, such as the Raven) is the Rattlesnake. Cruisers + Sentries or Torpedoes + Heavies, you can do both on the same hull.

Imo, whe you are approaching $2B on a dominix, you should just get a rattlesnake instead. Nearly twice the DPS for the same money.

The best is paladin with mwd. Don't bother collecting anything, just go in, nuke everything from any range, and move on.
