What a brilliant video,
You should take that section about the ignition switch having 4 places and making it its own video, I needed that info like 5 months ago and by now, imagine 200 others have also. Thanks!

Another problem is that when you turn to crank the engine to start it, the car electricity cuts right away. The AM1 and 2 fuses kept blowing. It can be a faulty electrical problem from the ignition switch.

As you turn the key it's very " soft" where it would normally crank.

Yes you answered my question. Car turns off while running. Already replaced the starter

On a 2002 Chevy s10, a bad switch will cause intermittent power to the gauges and the transmission power goes through that switch too and when it loses power, it goes into limp mode and you have to pull over and shut off the truck and turn it back on to reset the transmission and then it’s fine until it loses power again

actually before you go ripping out a fuse or relay to get the engine to turn off, try pressing the brake pedal, it should kill it after key is removed, this fixes nothing and you still have an ignition issue you have to get checked asap before you get stranded but at least you can turn it off for the time being

Thank you so much for including the last uncommon one. I'm struggling to fix it and it wasn't the cylinder!

You can also try the spare key, it worked for me.

We got a 2003 explorer that randomly dies and randomly no start and has no codes but always will crank. If it is running all lights will shut off like when you have the key out. This could very well be it? I was thinking a ground cable too but It is absolutely random, parked, driving, left turns, right turns, bumps, no bumps.
What you all think?

Thanks for the video! This video talks about 'wiggling the key' to make some determination and that you'd provide a link to 'that' video. I looked at your video written comment/intro and found no link that describes/explains the purpose and directions for your 'wiggle the key' recommendation. Would you kindly provide that link in question with your reply? Tks.

Could you tackle or add a link mentioning steering/ignition key locks up?

What's the issue if the power still works, but it just takes a few key turn tries to start the engine? Thanks

Ignition switches are spring loaded and that spring can get worn out or break. Also the Lock Cylinder actually turns a squared shaft which can snap or even shatter so nothing happens when you turn the key fully clockwise.

Please help!! When i turn the key to accessories, everything comes up fine. However, when i turn the key to the start position, it does absolutely nothing. Also it remains in the start position after releasing the key. It doesn't automatically go back to the accessories position. What could cause that?

My ignition turns and the starter works but no dash lights and, I'm not getting fuel or spark. I just thought, I'd mention it has an hei distributor. 😎

What about if the ignition is heating up as you drive so when you stop and turn the car off, both it and your key are hot to the touch? Is that a problem with the ignition switch?

When you change the switch or ignition switch with the keys in it and you get it other keys new ones and then when your battery or when you put the car on it says on the ignition left service how do you get the best service light off once you put a new ignition switch in and have different keys
