So love trains. Most people don't understand how they make the world go round. Trains and trucks.

My son has always had a fascination with trains, and now at 23, he's living out his dream as a conductor for BNSF.

Back in the mid-60s I used to climb on my uncle's switch engine like that. He worked for L&N Railway for over 35 years and before he retired he had the cushiest switching route there was and sometimes I got to run almost all of the route with him and "the fellas." What memories. I was the throttle man after I got tired of the horn. Sometimes I rode in the caboose. One switch by the bakery was easy to pull and I could pull it if I wanted to. Make sure it was aligned right then I would motion for my uncle to back. Can you imagine 7 year old me being that "grown up?" Of course, one of the fellas was there, too.
Can't do that on the railroad anymore!

To all those commenting here about the individual not 'properly' climbing on the train...you are exactly the reason why more and more railroaders do not trust you or want railfans around.

Always been a railroad fan. Im a retired truck driver after 28years with UPS as a logistics truck driver. Railroading is a way of life like truck driving.

I've been there. I've done that. It's impressive. Although the cab I entered was a mess.

When i was a conductor with CSX, you would get written up, for getting on a moving train, it had to be completely stopped, which is ridiculously, because now they have to get it moving again and pull the slack back out hoping you don't break a knuckle..

This is a hard, demanding job. Trying to walk on shifting rocks, with heavy boots, pulling your body weight up takes a toll on you feet, knees, hips, back, upper body, shoulders, hands and neck, then you have to step down and endure the same.

This fellow does a tough job.

God bless him I contacted for the bnsf rail way i worked for a company that was parsec the company contacted to the bnsf parsec and the bnsh were 💯 percent perfsonal when it came to the conductor paraec would stop everyone to make sure the conductor was safe bording the train.the only thing I can say about parsec and the bnsf safety was no 1 priority both parsec and the bnsf were very professional and good to me because safety was no 1 both companies wanted everyone to go home to there families at night

With the conducter just opening thc engines front door and easily just walk in one realizes how massive the locomotive actually is

Fed regs prohibit boarding a moving train. Yes, even freight conductors.
