Canon 7D Mark II Top Tips for Focus Efficiency.
Here are 3 setting tips for the Canon 7D Mark II you can use for becoming more efficient with the focusing system in the field. By changing some of these settings you can speed up the process of toggling between the different focusing point selections and placing your focusing point. They've definitely helped me become more efficient in the field and less chance of me missing a critical shot.

Once you've mastered autofocus point selection on the fly, you gain another level of accomplishment as a wildlife photographer, one more tool in the bag! Kudo's! (Yes I know this video is from 2018) As I write this in 2020 during the pandemic - I'm practicing my autofocus skills out the window during lock down, on local birds. Gotta keep my skills sharp.

Just got my own 7D mark II today, needless to say your tutorials have been a tremendous help to setup some of the AF options! (quite a huge step-up from my EOS 1300D)...
Out at one of our migration hotspots tomorrow for a field test, hopefully some nice birds will show up

Great info but I use a 1x4 converter as well. I take it that by using this add on it reduces the focus points greatly?

Hi, before I do any of these great tips (which aren’t working) I think I have a pre problem. When I press the back right button to select focal point the selector won’t move it. I have been having issues with this for a while and I don’t know how it happened which is why I was searching how to fix it and ended up on your video. I tried going into the first custom control you are suggesting but I set that up but still the selector button will not move the focal point around the screen. Thanks. I hope that makes sense.

Some great tips there. I never used to use all the points selected until I was at RSPB Old Moor (I think) and a massive flock of golden plovers came in in horrendous light. I don’t often use it but I now like to know it’s there.

Another good video, and it’s really good to know I’m not the only birder still using the 7DII. I’ve just looked at the price new and it’s still around £1400 which I was pretty shocked about.

Well intentioned video and extremely useful tips. Would have served the purpose lots better if you had kept the camera screen in focus all along and kept the audio explanations in the b/g.
