Maybe guerilla mosaics can be protest against unmaintained sidewalk damage or even road potholes. Even though it will not be strong enough to stand up to road wear, it brightly illuminates the work the government is neglecting with a temporary fix.

It looks great and if the city needed something to do with that hole than they shouldn't have left it accessible to the public, someone could trip over it at night and seriously hurt themselves, you did a great thing that looks pretty and could stop someone hurting themselves, ignore the haters.
