Musical riffs have 3 dimensions: a rhythmic motif, a melodic contour, and an evolving timbre. We can design these three dimensions separately, and get exciting and surprising results.

the laughs, the mess around, the sounds, the nail clipper. This is living.

All this talk about weird sounds, while a nail clipper is dangling from his left ear ... well played ;)

Another banger. Your content helps aspiring producers like myself. Whether it's technical deep dives or music theory, it's always digestible and elegantly explained with great edits on top. Much love.

Great to see someone encouraging people to PLAY. That’s the fun that got us all here in the first place.

I love that your workflow isn't fucused on synthesizing every sound from scratch like everybody's else who create producing tutorials on Yt rn and you just play around and mess with presets and modulation. I find it very hard to create any track and not get stucked in 8 bar loop when I try to synthesize everything by myself. I want to learn synthesis and make my own sounds but actually its not that fun for me when I want to create a new track and instead of going thru and sketching my ideas with presets I get stuck in Serum or any other synh for hours trying to create anything that sounds good so I get tired and lose theinspiration and often it ends up with abonding the track...Thanks for showing us the different way of creating!

Min 9 sounds great. I’ve been watching your content for some time and love to see how you seem to be increasingly enjoying recording over time. Big love from Spain

Nice one, Oscar.
Too late with remark for the external synth... I'm already looking at it! 😂

In from the night (reworks & edits) from Planetary Assault Systems, Adam Beyer and Wehbba is the ultimate example of having the same melody going on for the whole song while still keeping it Interesting. Amazing production!!

Hi Oscar! Thank you for another great video! Your joy in creating music is inspiring, and I love how much I learn from each one of them. Keep bringing more experimental fun stuff.

I recently switched to Cardinal because it can be used as a vst inside of a DAW for free, which for VCV Rack is only available when the full thing is bought. In the end, you can just use a sequencer from M4L like 185 sequencer or mdd snake

Loved it, only 1 note: if you dont own a synth invest a few days into understanding midi devices on ableton. Midi routing and midi resampling.

Anything can be done inside the box with levels of randomness a Modular Rack wont ever dream of just by using the expression control and randomizing everything (just and example) Midi routing allows for re-route of a chain inside a channel into another channel which can contain more midi devices, a random repitch into scaler will do "controlled randomness" in which the notes are random inside of a fixed scale. I can go on all day, ableton Live has all the devices needed to transform your pc into the most complex instrument ever created.

And vcv is free

Great video as always Oscar, you keep raising the bar.
