A Chinese probe carrying samples from the far side of the Moon returned to Earth on Tuesday, capping a technically complex 53-day mission heralded as a world first. The landing module of the Chang'e-6 spacecraft touched down at a predetermined site in Inner Mongolia at 2:07 pm (0607 GMT), the China National Space Administration said, hailing the mission a "complete success". There is no real space race today. It is no longer USA vs USSR in 1960s. But there is a great work by many countries in exploration of the Solar System, with probes going to all planets, samples returned from asteroids, giant telescopes observing universe, etc.

China is certainly making an amazing progress. In some facets they are already leaders. In other areas they still lack experience which NASA laboratories accumulated in half a century of building things. They are also still aspiring to replicate the rapid and bold innovation of SpaceX. But China has vast resources, strong government management, and a vibrant industrial ecosystem with many space startup companies. We should expect great things from them. It will not be at all surprising it they will be the first to bring samples from Mars, and to establish the first base on the Moon.

Congratulations to French people as well, your Robert also rocking the back side of the moon. Where NASA head said it was too dark to visit

Why is it called the Space Race? It was the United States that rejected China's cooperation in the space program. The European Union also rejected the Galileo satellite navigation project. So what's the controversy about China going on its own plan to explore the universe?

Calling US the leader when they can't even get their astronauts back from space.. and have not even succeeded in landing on the far side of the moon. Is kind of misleading

What's the deal of pronouncing that as "change"? Jealousy, irresponsibility, ignorance? Even ordinary people at this point knows the proper pronunciation but not you

To show respect, the first thing to do is learning to pronounce the Chang'e correctly. Is that hard?

It is not 'change', but 'chang'e' /chang-er/

oh, chang-e is a name of a famous chinese fairy, show some respect to her and use the right pronunciation: / chang-er/

It is Not Change E six.
It should be pronounced Charng Er 6.
The probe is named after a Chinese Moon Fairy.

Please explain why the soil sample China brought back from the moon has 75% difference from what US had.

I wish they wouldn't call it the Dark Side of the moon. Oh wait, that's what the head of NASA called it.

FRANCE 24 English forgot to add in the title “but at what cost?”

Why is the composition of lunar soil brought back by China 75% different from that brought back by the US?

Calling the probe 'change' instead of Chang'e reflects badly on the journalism. Learn some Mandarin!
