The China National Space Administration has announced the Chang’e 5 returner module is set to land in Mongolia later today. On board are around two kilograms of moon rocks and dust. The mission has made China the first country to have retrieved these samples since the 1970s. And for the Chinese government it’s also way of showing the world how advanced it is, when it comes to space exploration. Michael Hartlep has the details.

Oh the host. Look at how she asks her questions. Host: it could still fail, right, expert? Then the expert ignores her and introduces the extra complexity China chose to challenge. Host: they are gonna dominate us, right, expert? Then the expert tells (with smiles) how ESA ALREADY worked with CNSA for years. This is the difference between Western media and Western academics. I am glad to be part of the latter.

I like how the guy made it clear that achievements like this shouldn't always be viewed under the light of being them and us.

I'm really glad the expert didnt fall the trap to talk about politics instead of discussing about with all the organizations...Great!

It sounds like the host is almost praying for the spaceship to crash. Sorry darling too late. I just heard it has already landed safely with the moon rock sample.

Remember, Chinese newspaper from 15 years ago said that the sample return mission would take place during 2020, and they were quoting words from Chinese space agency.

Nowadays many "small" people do not like to see other people succeed.

Does the host want to say that China plans to build a concentration camp on the moon? When China explores the moon, Western media always say that China has ambition, but when NASA explores the moon, you never say so.

What kind of sour host that tried to pick on China but fortunately the guest didn't fall for it

The host is really unprofessional.
DW has become so low...

He is absolutely correct. What China has done (i.e. return trip to the moon via lunar orbiter) is not the third but the FIRST mission in human history like landing on the far side of the moon last year. This is truly another chapter in the history of space exploration. Well done China !

I’m Chinese Canadian and I don’t wanna get into any politics. But MAN... let’s just happy that it is a great achievement instead of hoping it would fail😂 what good does it bring you when you’re having so much hate an anger😂

You could sense the DW interviewer just bursting to try inject some adverse comments about China. Her earpiece must have been hot with the news-editor screaming china-bashing expletives.

DW is good enough. Most English mainstream media doesnt even report this
