The Tesla Model 3 has been a smash-hit Down Under, where the latest Chinese-sourced mid-size sedan has quickly become Australia’s favourite EV.

But now it faces what’s likely to be its most serious challenge in the form of the 2023 GWM Ora Sport – an all-new battery-powered sedan from ambitious Chinese car-maker GWM.

Pricing and exact release timing is yet to be announced, but there’s plenty to like about the new Ora Sport, as Feann Torr discovered during this preview drive in Victoria.

The hatch is kind of cute, especially in its GT trim. But this looks completely bizarre. Who in their right mind is going to spend $65, 000 on this?

No one cares of electric sedans even too expensive when it comes to cheap SUV and 4x4 utes runs on diesel.

I’m not sure the ex Porsche designer who now e we pride for GWM and designed the Ora models would like his design being called ‘peculiar’
Only thing I dislike is the strange idea of only one cup holder

Porsche might have a case to sue over the design.

This brand is marketed exclusively toward female consumers in China. I wonder if it's a good idea to introduced it to Australia. Do Australian women have that kind of spending power, and will they appreciate such a feminine design after decades of feminist indoctrination that has caused their testosterone levels to approach men's?

It would want to be cheap, they didn’t give the design team a very big budget.
