ARE LED BULBS GOOD TO USE IN PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS we test a led 9005 bulb in a halogen projector head light on this ram truck to see how the light output is compared to a standard halogen bulb in a projector housing or incandescent bulbs in this led vs halogen comparison we compared both bulb and let you be the judge on what is better for your ram 1500 ram 2500 or ram 3500 truck

You installed the LED incorrectly. You MUST clock them with the LED chip facing in the 3 and 9 o’clock position. When you do, you get the perfect light with the cut off line. I have the same lights on my truck. Once I turn them the light was fantastic. On the fog lights below, the light needs to be clocked in the 12 and 6 position to exposed the LED to the biggest part of the reflector,

If you rotate the bulb so that the LEDs are facing side to side (9 and 3) instead of top and bottom (12 and 6), you will get much better light distribution. Halogen bulbs have full 360 degree light output so it does not matter what orientation the bulb is in. With LEDs, the top and bottom have less light than the sides where the chips are, so there will be less light (dead spot) directly in front of your car when clocked correctly (9 and 3), but proper fog lights will fill that in pretty well. From what I've seen, Auxito LEDs are not that great, so if you want some LEDs that are brighter and better for projectors, here are a few I would recommend: 1: GTR Lighting Ultra 2 2: Headlight Revolution Sv.4 3: Amazon Katana 9005 LED (same as Sv.4, just cheaper) 4: Diode Dynamics SL1. I currently have the Sv.4 bulbs in my H7 projectors on my subaru, and they are super bright with great distribution, with only a small dead spot in the foreground that my fog lights get rid of. Hope this helps!

I did the s-v.4 led and the brightsource extended cover, I clocked the chips at 9 and 3. I have a very good beam pattern, light is not washed out and I do not notice dead spots. Anything looks better than the oem halogen, I almost went hid over led but the delay on the hid was the deciding factor.

For anyone who sees this. LEDs are ALWAYS supposed to be east and west not north and south regardless of how your original halogens were oriented. That's why he's having an issue with dead-spots to the left and right.

I think if you change your light orientation from north and south to east and west they’ll be a little better for you.

I agree with you, I put some in my 2011 For Edge and I feel my halogen is brighter.

Hey, I just spent this entire weekend putting LEDs in my headlights. There was a NIGHT and DAY difference when I turned the LEDs to having the diodes clocked at 9 and 3 (diodes on the side, skinny side up) and the light pattern was SO much better than 12/6 o clock and got rid of the bat wing dead spot. TRUST.

I have these in my 2016 Elantra GT low beam with projectors and my results with them at 9 / 3 (Factory ) was amazing . No dark spots and they have DOT approved on them . I’ve had them since Mar. 2020 . Clocking them differently may help . I’ve already seen HID vs LED .

LED bulbs in projector headlights are superb. I replaced my bmw oem high beam bulbs, they were halogen 55w per bulb. I replaced them with same power LED bulbs and they are amazing, atleast twice as bright.

I have the same Auxito Y13 in my projector lights and they are AWSOME. Perfect light pattern, no "dead spots" and much brighter than the stock regular bulbs. Led bulbs like these should ALWAYS be installed with the lights "9 and 3 o'clock", that means with the wire pointing DOWN. You installed the Auxito bulb the wrong way.

Glad we’ve got an updated video about leds in projectors I got my sv4 leds in my low beams and the light output is way better than the hikaris but the only draw back is they’re way more pricey than your standard leds just not a fan of hids but I see why people love em loving the ram content boosted keep it up 👌😎

Yeah, I think you're right, they are more suited to the reflectors.

I put Auxbeam F-16 Plus LED's in a 2018 Ram 3500. Crap stock halogen non-projector reflectors. Turned night into day. You don't need an expensive housing. These bulbs rock. Adjusted down they do not blind oncoming traffic either.

The bulb might have better light output if you Adjust the bulb vertical instead of horizontal. Most manufacturers recommend they be vertical.

As mentioned before i just installed these in the 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock position, they work great.

Nice video. Surprised about the amount of hardware you need to remove to change a light bulb. Guess it takes at least one engineer to change this light bulb. 😀. The evolution of led has been amazing over the past decades. From small indicator lights to room and car lights. Would be interesting if a filament led bulb for cars would be developed. However, by the time that is finished there may not be a market for that anymore, since all cars have oem led lights.

Damn man You already had the headlights cracked open, should’ve just retrofit a morimoto projector, hands down craps all over leds and hids in the Ram projectors. More expensive yes but waaaay worth it I’ve tried all 3.

Use LIGHT MOSES brand LED BULBS. They have a complete 360° LED'S all the way around the tip of the bulb to make the same coverage as a Halogen bulb. And they work great in Projector type housings or even in Reflector housings.
