Lock In 7% With Government Bonds:

Amazon is no doubt the king of e-commerce controlling a whopping 49% of the US e-commerce market. Despite their significant lead though, Walmart is quickly building up their own position within the online shopping market. For instance, Walmart has launched a plethora of delivery options that directly compete with or even beat Amazon's delivery options through Amazon Prime. Aside from this, Walmart has mastered the art of mass logistics as they supply thousands of Walmart stores every day delivering over $500 billion worth of products annually. This video explains all of the major advantages Walmart has against Amazon, and why Walmart actually has a serious chance of introducing legitimate competition into the e-commerce market.

Walmart: Hi King.... I am Godzilla, nice to meet you.

Amazon has pretty much maxed out what it can do in the ecommerce industry at this point in the US.
As a software engineer though, I know first hand they are dominating cloud computing space. I fully expect that to eventually become one of their most profitable ventures, possibly even more so than their ecommerce.

Remember this: Amazon is a world-wide company. Walmart is unknown and unaccessible to most of the world's consumers. So, my money is on Amazon. Your video was too focused on one market (the US). That is not Amazon's game. They are looking further.

You missed one key point. Walmart purchased Flipkart, Amazon's biggest competitor in ecommerce in India for USD 16 Bn in 2018. Flipkart is a huge amazon competitor that has many of these things figured out. Their expertise in tech will definitely be used by Walmart to compete with Amazon.

I use both Amazon Prime and Wal-Mart+. If I need groceries or generic products or need items quickly I use Wal-Mart. If I need higher quality items or things I can't find at Wal-Mart then I shop Amazon.

Here's my experience with Wal Mart online. I'm a truck driver, my gf tells me her tv quit working. So I go to wal marts web site to buy her a TV, she can just go down and pick it up.

I get a popular model tv, buy it, get a message saying their out of stock, tv will arrive in 2 weeks. Well, I want the tv now so I go to cancel order immediately and I get a message saying it's been shipped I can't cancel the order. Must of been able to ship this order in 30 seconds, I literally don't know.

Well, I call the store, im told there's nothing I can do, I have to wait for the tv to arrive, I can then cancel my order. So, im like forget it.

So, about 4 or 5 days later I get home, gf is like I want a tv, let's go get one. So, we go to the same exact store I ordered the tv from, we walk in the front door and they have at least 100 of the tvs I ordered online displayed as you walk in the front door, for the price that was advertised online.

I bought the tv, waited 2 weeks and canceled my order. My experience ordering online was so idiotic, im never doing it again. Amazon and wait the 2 days it is. Wal Mart is clueless, just like Blockbuster vs, Netflix.

It'll be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of years if Walmart can take away some of that market share, I think I heard a statistic the other day that said only 18% of all retail spending happens online rn, even with the pandemic, so it's clearly a sign there's still lots of growth to be had in this space!

For someone like me, Walmart is essential. I'm low income so I shop for pretty much everything at Walmart. I only ever go to other stores for particular items I somehow can't find at Walmart, but for the most part they have a huge variety and it meets almost all my needs. And there is always a Walmart right down the street from me, even after all the times I have moved, Walmart is very conveniently close. Plus... I don't really like shopping online because I'm the type of person who likes to look at products in person before I buy them. I like to check the items out by hand rather than ordering something and just crossing my fingers that it turns out the way it's shown (which is usually a disappointing experience, I think we've all been there). Lots of people like to talk crap about Walmart for many reasons but for the money... it's 100% worth it for me. I'm not ashamed at all to be a dedicated Walmart shopper.

This is a great vid. Even though I was mostly aware of Amazon for e commerce, since the pandemic started I am buying almost exclusively from Walmart, which beats Amazon for product catalogue, prices and delivery times, even though I like Amazon's customer services much better. That's one point Walmart might want to focus on next.

Returns at amazon are so much easier. For most returns, I just bring the item back to a UPS store and they pack it for me. It beats going to Walmart...🤮🤮🤮

I love how Amazon needs to develop new technologies like Prime Air to deliver on same day deliver promises while Walmart goes like "Haha 4000 stores nationwide go

Walmart is basically Kodak if they didn't ignore the market

I love your channel and your content but here's why I think Amazon will win this battle:
1. Amazon always has everything in stock. So the customer doesn't have to think whether Amazon will have stock of a certain item or not, unlike Walmart. ( I live in India, so I don't know whether this assumption hold true)
2. Prime comes with other benefits like Prime Video and Amazon music. ( I personally think that I pay for Amazon Prime for Prime Video and next day delivery is a side benefit)
3. Once you subscribe to Amazon Prime, you generally don't look anywhere else. (Since I have subscribed to Prime, I have not ordered anything from any other e-commerce website if it was available on Amazon. Earlier I used to compare price and delivery speeds, now I don't even bother to check)
4. If you compare logistics, amazon does half the revenue of Walmart from 1/43th of their warehouses.
5. Amazon's quarterly net profits are 6 billion, whereas, Walmart's quarterly profits are 4 billion.
6. Amazon's quarterly net cash flow from Operating Activities was roughly 12 billion, whereas Walmart's was 7 billion.
7. Amazon Cash and Cash Equivalents are 36 billion, compared to Walmart's 15 billion.
8. Amazon can always build up more warehouses and increase delivery speeds and it would be a drop in the bucket.
9. Amazon has a bigger global footprint
10. Amazon's market cap is 4 times that of Walmart, so it can raise additional money comparably easier to Walmart

Until Walmart figures out their customer service nightmares, they’ll never overtake Amazon.
