My son, now a Navy veteran, was stationed overseas when he and his crewmates got a surprise appearance from Robin Williams. He told me later, "Mom, I laughed so hard, my ribs hurt for four days!" He, my two daughters and I all cried talking to each other on our phones that awful day when he passed. We all agreed we'll "never have a friend" like him again. While in the Army deployed to Iraq, Robin Williams entertained the base through the USO. After the show he invited anyone to come up on stage to be in a group photo. Since I was further in the back it took me longer to get up to the stage. Robin saw me approaching and had the photographer wait until I got in place. I'm forever grateful for his kindness

I am a US Army Vet having the privilege and honor meeting Mr Williams spending nearly 10 minutes alone time with him before the masses realized he was there as he was part of a USO Tour. What you see of him on tv is in complete contrast to who he really is - an extremely kind, profound and giving soul.
