Understanding Value (Light and Dark) and Drawing Value Scales - Weekly Art Lessons Vol. 03
Показать описание
Learn something new with Mr. New!
This is the third installment of my ongoing series of weekly art tips. These weekly art tips are intended to take an artist of any age from the most basic beginner level up to a more confident and capable artist in a chronological path. More advanced art tips will come with time.
In this video, I discuss the element of value - how light or dark things are. This video gives step by step instructions for drawing value scales using four different methods: shading, scribbles, hatching, and cross-hatching. This video also briefly discusses the use of stipple.
Value scales are an important tool which artists use to help determine how light or dark objects in their drawings should be.
~~~~~~~~~~
NEXT WEEK'S TOPIC: All about erasers. Comparing and contrasting the different types of erasers, the pros and cons of each, and the appropriate uses for each.
~~~~~~~~~~
IF YOU ARE JUST A BEGINNER, I STRONGLY SUGGEST USING SUPPLIES THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE, SUCH AS A STANDARD #2 PENCIL AND COPY PAPER, FOR PRACTICING. You shouldn't spend money on expensive supplies until you are comfortable with how to use them and ready to take your art to the next level. I will have a whole video devoted to this topic at a later date.
