Every 10 minutes of your content is more valuable than the 4 years of my fine arts college classes. You're doing god's work, mate.

Finally, someone that ACTUALLY knows how to explain lighting and shading.

The separation of light and shadow should be as clear as the separation in quality between your videos and all other art tutorials on youtube.

Man, this is good. I've used endless sources to approach and understand value, and in 10 minutes it's clearer than it's ever been. Incredible. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge!

I just found your channel, and your 10 minute series has changed the way I see art and composition. Thank you so so SO much for all the hard work and love you put into your videos. You explain very clearly, concisely, and you look like you have so much fun, it makes me want to immediately start drawing myself. Keep up the fantastic work!

I always look forward to each episode. Up until now I didn't take any notes, but I think I'll rewatch all the episodes and do take notes.

I don't know why but the example painting just cracks me up..
Barbarian holding a bow riding a woman that's riding a lizard.
Great lesson btw!

This episode gave me like six "aha moments." I made a piece with values first, and then colorized it, and oh, my. It worked. Thank you.

Five years later I am watching this series again and I even more love it! Marco, you are my master. To be able to refresh my understanding and further develop my skills is wonderful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your insights and wisdom. 💛

5:30, I feel like this could be better summed up with the fact of how light is angled relative to the angled planes. For example, a 180 deg. plane with a light source directly on top is 100% lit = white, if you tilt the plane like 30 deg. angle, the top is lit 70% = halftone. Angle the plane 50 degrees, it's now lit 50%. make the plane angled at an angle where it is verticle to the light source, no light is actually touching the plane, = 0% lit (dark) etc.

Very succinctly explained. I have been doing art for years and still learned a lot from this.
