Three motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes on Thursday in a 10-hour span. Saturday afternoon, another motorcyclist died in Anoka County. While each crash was different, safety advocates say it's a reminder of the dangers of riding on the road. WCCO's Kirsten Mitchell explains how a recently passed law aims to make roads safer for motorcyclists.

Lane splitting will not make it safe. I see it in LA. and I ride, too many bikers with little experience and think it is a race track...

Yeah and Minnesota drivers are ready for it 😂

This will not end well.

I stopped seeing motorcycles when I saw a rider do a wheelie down 494

The person they talked too is insane, this will not make it safer for cycles, this is the stupid claim all the cyclists make, oh, I'm afraid I'm gunna get rear ended....if I could only lane split/filter/share. I get into my car and don't think that and I have the same exact chance of getting rear ended. If you are that afraid, don't ride a cycle. I can't wait to hear how many bikes DON'T follow the speed rule for this and make cars hate cycles even more....it's only a matter of time.

That is not "Lane Splitting, " it is, "Filtering." There is huge difference between filtering traffic at lower speeds and, "Lane Splitting, " at higher speeds. Noone legalized freeway mayhem.

No this is not good it will be crazy these riders will abuse anything when they get a chance. So MN legislatures can you regulate 14mph? no, thrs no way you can regulate this at all so its a failed measure.

If I could be completely honest, I think this law should just stay in California and anywhere else that has lane splitting legalization. I’m sure this is not gonna last in Minnesota, but I’ll be quite shocked if it does.

I hope there’s a way we can sign a petition to keep the law in California and anywhere else that supports this law

As if bikers weren’t already irritating enough.

In many states it has been successful if done legally and in a stopped traffic situation. . As a retired semi driver and long time motorcyclist have watched a lot of Minnesota traffic! I have seen skills of say 5% of drivers go down so hope it gets better.

So now if I'm in traffic and want to change lanes I'll also have to worry about a motorcycle coming out of nowhere, brilliant, brilliant. Is this going to only be allowed on freeways or is it also going to be allowed on multi lane city streets. I can't see anything good coming out of this.

Nope. I'd get mad if a car tried to split a lane with me, but their supposed to be ok with me pulling up beside them? This ain't India.
