For those wondering, the primary way these talented dudes know the location is hours upon hours of memorizing things like the length of lines drawn on the road, the shape and color of bollards, what telephone poles look like and lots of other details, in addition to soil color, etc. Since many places only look a certain way due to all these details, they eventually can see just one important detail and know the road has to be in a specific country due to their road laws. "So in other words they're really good at geoguessr?" Yes.
