What do you think? What are the reasons why people don't seem to care about curing aging? Let us know in the comments below.

Psychological defence mechanisms prevent people from caring about it. Seeing aging for the disease it is, is painful. We are surrounded by the tragedy of it.

This channel is helping more people understand that aging can be solved if we prioritize it.

We're all preaching to the choir in these comments. We need to share the videos on this channel to get more people to understand geroscience. Oh, great video by the way!

I'm 23 and i don't know anyone that cares about curing aging, they're too caught up in the systems of society. I'm somewhat the same. I care about it, but caring doesn't do anything if I can't get a job in the field and I'm stuck working some pointless job that just pays the bills

I think it is our habit. We cannot imagine way to make our life longer, and we live today not tomorrow. Usually we don`t want to think about future (as you said).

Really thoughtful and well-presented episode. Thanks for all the hard work you're putting into this fight against aging

I've read arguments against geroscience based on the misconception that "age related conditions can't be put under medial control because of the second law of thermodynamics". Of course, people who say that don't actually understand physics, because the fact is people are open systems, so indefinite lifespans aren't against the laws of physics.

I used to be trapped in that unhealthy mindset. Not so much that I was against this research, but just being content with the pre-conceived idea that nothing can be done to treat aging that everyone (including my family) has told me throughout my life. After learning of the anti-aging medical and advocacy fields, I immediately decided to support this endeavour with all my being in order to make it a reality as soon as possible. Of course I may be the exception to the rule of how people will respond to this type of work, but I will still do everything within my power to support it.

I wish more people cared about curing aging. I will share this video to try to change people's minds on the issue of aging.

7:46 I get pretty much no engagement on life-extension Facebook posts unless I tag life-extension friends in the post. I admit this is kind of cheating and may be annoying to some people, but I do it because I saw other life-extension Facebook friends doing it so I started doing it and learned that it works. I think Facebooks algorithms hate life extension posts, but I don't have proof of this. Great episode!

Perhaps a language change might be helpful. For instance, throughout this video it's still referred to as "dying of aging", even though we know it's the diseases that come from aging that kills you; aging doesn't kill directly. By using phrases like "dying from aging" we unintentionally reinforce the idea that aging is it's own type of death.

The main reason is that we have been bombarded with this ideea that death is inevitable and must happen. Well, with the development of technology and science of today's world, this is becoming kinda old. Why not give the people the choice, of either living indefinetely or a very much extended period of time, or live a natural lifespan, this way no one is offended and it works out for everyone.
Thank you for the content ! Very interesting as always.

Excellent, excellent episode. Thanks Nicola, et al! This is exactly the sort of things I would like to share with my friends/family. Please everyone, if you haven’t liked and commented before, please do so now. Let’s get this content in front of as many people as possible.

I would also really love to see in-depth episodes dedicated to the various arguments people give against life extension beginning with overpopulation. (A friend brought this up with me just last week.) You are doing a fantastic job. Keep up the great work!

Most of my friends with whom I've talked to about it presume that life extension means "staying old (and fragile and ugly) forever", and if any therapies that will cure aging will happen in their lifetimes they'll be too old already and will be trapped in their old bodies. The idea of rejuvenation, instead of "slowing aging to a halt", completely blows their mind (or rather doesn't) as they have never heard about success in that area and don't expect that this is possible at all.

Lots of great points in this episode! I wish people cared more about aging research and watched this channel!

Nice video. To answer your question about people ignoring what we share on social media about rejuvenation, I only got one like once on Facebook, but never comments, and I have 61 "friends". It's not a lot, but such a little response must mean that this topic makes many of them uncomfortable. For those who understand English, I hope that this video pushes them to confront the narratives about aging that they are telling themselves. Most people have never thought seriously about defeating aging, but we can certainly put them in a cognitive context that puts pressure on them to be more honest about what they expect and what they feel in relation to the problem of aging. So, let's share the video. :)
