It has been so dry that cactus doesnt grow in the high desert all the way into fort irwin, and out to 29 palms. A colossal reality out here about the tinder, dry conditions, especially around the second week of July being 110 and that for 2 months has just caused everything to die back and become scorched. There is another fire over around highland, over the mountains of big bear, though we have had many fires including ashes a few years back. Something over there was so caustic *** what ever was burning was some kind of chemical oder in the air, it was horrific the second day of the fire. The air was full of some kind of chemical that had burned somewhere. I don't know what the fire burned or where the fire was, it was all through the air like some kind of chemicals. 9/10/24
