Steve Vai - Paganini 5th Caprice (Crossroads) - Blindfolded Cover

Inspired by a blind student of mine I decided to take up the challenge and play the Guitar Battle from Crossroads blindfolded - I had to practice it a couple of times, though.

Paganini 5th Caprice from the Crossroads Guitar Battle (1986) originally between Steve Vai and Ralph Macchio.

I play the Engl E650 Ritchie Blackmore Signature Amp and the Gibson Les Paul Supreme Model.

I think I'm going to try this before playing the really hard ones like seven nation army or smells like teen spirit

The fact that you played this on a Gibson Les Paul is just mindblowingly impressive. Amazing playing.

Great, but can you make a grilled cheese sandwich in the middle of the night without waking anyone up? I did, I think.

I’m sorry - this guy’s playing is ridiculously perfect. I’m burning my guitar and throwing all my platinum selling records on the pyre. It’s over.

I remember my old firend during 90s. He invited me to his house to see him perform this licks. He did it and it made me hail him as a bluesman. Sadly he died few years later during his gig out of the country. Missed hom so.

This is the best version ive seen, and trust me ive seen every cover of this on youtube from the best to worst. Couldnt be better without the blindfold. No one can play that harmonic after hitting all the E's like you can. Also the way you catch those frets when you shifting octaves is insane. I can close my eyes and play the beginning of that section poorly, but i cant believe your accuracy. Over the past year i think ive watched this video 100 times

This is like hearing Steve Vai all over again.
I have loved this solo for 30+ years
You are the second guy ever I heard to pull it off perfectly.
The first used to be a guitarist from AlcoholicA, dunno if hes still with them was 20+ years back.
Amazing!
