In Switzerland, at least in my area, most pools force you through a corridor that has a shallow pool of disinfectant liquid and showers you so even you don't want to shower.... you'll have to go through several jets of water. Why don't you do that in the US.

I am a professional pool tech. I used to do commercial pools. After taking the test and becoming certified. I can strongly say I WILL NEVER SWIM IN A PUBLIC POOL. The things I learned in that class YUK

I used to lifeguard, and almost every Saturday some little kid would poo in the pool. We'd have to shut for several hours (more if it was runny). Some adults would ask why they're being asked to leave, and occasionally one of them would claim that they didn't care and would rather stay in the pool.

Fun fact:

That "pool smell" that we all associate with pools, is actually a good indicator of the amount of pee in a pool. That last question about the chemical warfare agent, that compound is produced when pee and chlorine mix. That's why you sometimes feel your eyes and sinuses sting when at a pool. So if you don't want a pee infected pool, a non chlorine smelling pool is your best bet.
