In this video, Ross discusses the Hivernenca fig variety, highlighting its exceptional performance in cooler, late-season weather and its ability to ripen well even in less ideal conditions. Ross covers various strains of this fig, noting differences in taste and physical characteristics, and emphasize the variety's advantages, such as shorter hang time and resilience to environmental changes.

"Hivernenca figs are renowned for their distinctive taste and texture, reminiscent of the Coll de Damas and the berry flavor of Black Madeira. The flavor's intensity varies with the specific Hivernenca type and ripening conditions, but in ideal climates, they are among the best-tasting figs available.

Hivernenca is not just a variety, but a classification of varieties that boasts various names, making this category of fig varieties somewhat confusing. Numerous figs fall under this category, such as De La Senyora (Hivernenca), Lampiera 1, Can Planetes, De N’Amoros, Verdal Longue, Moro de Bou, Margalera, Coll de Dama Cuitat, Bergunya, Labritja & Ouriola."

Really excited about this one. Purchased an established / mature De N'Amoros from you in the fall. It's re-potted and very excited for warm weather and sun.

Hi Ross, I have learned much more from you videos about figs. I am leaving in a very warm climate where the temperature increases to 46 degree centigrade during the summer season. I have a white fig garden of approximately 1000 fig trees. Considering the mentioned temperature, Could you please further guide me about the training and pruning techniques and rules that I have to follow for getting the most output of the fig trees?
Thanks in advance
