Do you want to disable autoplay feature to stop videos from loading up the next video automatically. Here is how to turn off YouTube's autoplay feature on desktop and mobile.

The auto-play feature on YouTube enables a 'lean back' experience and keeps videos playing without you having to select a new video when the video that you're watching finishes.

You can choose to turn off the auto-play feature at any time using the toggle option available on the watch page.

Do you listen to videos on the toilet?

Turning off Autoplay on a computer used to leave the control defaulted to Off until a couple of weeks ago. Now it's always defaulted to On, requiring turning off for every single video.

The autoplay setting keep turning on every time YT is loaded - any answer for that?

This works for just one video. If I open another tab or watch later the option is turned on again. Useless.

This is great and all, but how do I make it stay turned off?
Cause I don't wanna have to constantly turn off autoplay on every single youtube video I watch.

The desktop browser control resets constantly for me.

The autoplay switch is not present on all videos. On some videos, there is simply no such switch and the player stopped warning at the end that the next video will now start. In the browser and in the mobile version too.

In the last few days, on the desktop version anyway, they have changed it so that "Autoplay On" is the default setting. So if you turn it off the next time you open another video it's back to "Autoplay On". It makes no sense why they would have it that way, it's kind of annoying.

GAAAH. Went to all of the settings and wondered how long I would have to suffer through this. THANK YOU.

Thanks for making a 1 minute video about this instead of turning it into a 7 minute epic. Much appreciated

I try that, but for some reason it keeps switch it back on whenever I open a new video. Just refreshing the page even. Isn't there a way to disable is for good?

There is no button when watching a video from your "Watch Later" playlist. Videos auto play from one to the next here. Is there a way to disable autoplay from this baked-in playlist?

I feel so stupid for not seeing this on desktop ages ago, but thank you very much for the help! Much like others I'd gone straight to settings and had been scratching my head with what to do.

Bless you for this! I go to sleep listening to podcasts and it auto played into video about the 10 most horrific murder cases of all time. I woke up and almost had a heart attack.

Thanks, mate! Despite being a computer technician, I could not figure out where they hid this "feature". pretty sneaky of YouTube, as with many other things they do as well as google. don't get me started on how dumb gmail is for iOS!
Appreciate your helpful, to the point, and clear, video!
Cheers from Philadelphia!

yeah... but nowadays, even though I have turned off the autoplay in a video, it's on again when I open a new video. Is there a way to set it to be always off?

But the next time I open a tab with a video it's back on again. Do you know how to permanently turn it off?
