Would love to see how it goes with DDR4. I think most people who will be buying a 12400 won't be spending the extra money on DDR5.

Thank you AMD, for being competitive to the point Intel had to offer their CPU's at reasonable prices. Another win for consumers 😁

Intel Less energy consumption at a lower price and performance close to better in some cases

Extremely impressive when you consider the wattage

12400F will be even cheaper and just as formidable. As a proud owner of a 5800X, 5600X and 10400F, I’ve go to hand it to Intel they are starting to look a little more competitive now.

Very impressed with the i5, almost the same performance with lower clocks and less power consumption.

sooo... long story short.. (All prices in CAD btw) I was comparing the two and the mobo I got for $220 for the 5600x was... amazing compared to the $200 mobo I would get for the 12400... so that more or less decided it for me. A $220 B550 mobo was the MSI gaming edge wifi... the one for the 12400 was the ASUS Prime H670-plus.. which... eh... and the cheapest Wifi board is around $300.. sooo yeah, I went with the B550 and 5600x.

Good stuff from Intel for a change. But I'll wait for Raptor Lake before I finally retire my beloved old 4790K.

Wow the 12400 is great value for money cpu .Waiting for amd to release a decent under 200$ 6 core cpu like the 3600

Impressive Intel. Excellent competition finally. Just upgraded all my PC's in the home in this last 2yrs. This will just lower the prices for all the 5000 series CPU's which is what I was hoping for. Glad newer, faster and cheaper is on the way as 5000 will be someday upgraded on most of my systems. Unless I have the need for heavy CPU performance which we don't here or a high end GPU 5000 will be more than enough for the level of GPU's I likely will have installed in my PC's. YAY for competition!!! Good come back Intel. Only have 1 Intel system in the house now, an old I3 4330 in the garage workbench PC. 8 other PC's are all AM4.

RN, 5600x is almost same price, at least in here at Brazil, both arent cheap, but arent too expensive either. Ty AMD for giving us consumers our chance to build a good PC without going bankrupt.

Horizon Zero Dawn has medium settings, not ultra!!

Issue is that the lowest intel board for this CPU is 200€ in most countries, and those are the worst of the worst. Kindly put that into the bracket too. Whereas you can get by with a very decent AMD board for ryzen under 80€, and they are quite good, yes b450 will most likely work with zen3+3vc too. Heck you could even go as low as 50€ or even lower with Ryzen Zen 3/Zen 3+3dvc

Intel is still terrible with cross generational platforms change, something AMD won't encounter until next year. Price to performance sadly goes to the 5600x. I do not recommend anyone paying 200 euros more for 1-5 more fps at +144fps. Unless intel solves their platform issues we¨ll have issues like their 6800k that still sell for +300€, yes it's that bad!

Yeah it's cheaper but motherboards for new Alder Lake are more expensive than AM4 ones and this can equalize the prices of these builds, and in that regard that is next gen cpus, performane don't worth upgrading... When you're building new build it's about personal preference bcz total prices and performance will be similar.

I bought a motherboard msi b450 tomahawk max at 5200 yen in Japan something like 45 dollars, ddr4 3200 and a 5600x I am happy with my purchase it was cheap. Compatible motherboards for 12400 here in Japan I have seen 40 thousand yen, and ddr5 memory is expensive compared to ddr4. so the 12400 in Japan is not a smart buy for now. although if I think that the plates not as new as b450 and x470 suffer price cuts

Golden Cove's IPC advantage is so huge that the 12400 gives the 5600X a 600mhz advantage and still matched performance while doing so at up to half the wattage.

For gpu bound games, 12400 does very good. Else, it's exactly the same.

Good enough for 1080 p, might get the I 5 because of my monitor then upgrade to 12600 k later on when I get a 1440p monitor lol . Buying good monitor actually makes a huge difference compared to a new GPU I recon . I went from a 60 htrz to 144 htrz, shit was incredible . But now I want a 1440p at 200 htrz lol . The problem with life is ya always want more, can never be happy with what shit we got lol . At least my old 4690 k plays Titanfall 2 at 144 fps on low settings lol .
