Karnataka government on Thursday promulgated an ordinance to give effect to the anti-conversion bill on Thursday. The cabinet met today to approve the ordinance. The BJP-led government decided to take this route as Assembly and Council were prorogued.

The Karnataka Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill was passed in the Legislative Assembly in December 2021. It is pending passage in the Legislative Council, where the ruling BJP is one short of majority.

“Because the Assembly and Council got prorogued, we are placing a proposal to promulgate an ordinance in the Cabinet today,” CM Bommai said.

Reacting to the ordinance, Karnataka Law Minister JC Madhuswamy said, "We've taken a decision to go in for ordinance for the anti-conversion law. We will not call it anti-conversion law but Protection of Right to Freedom of Religion Bill. Without any amendments whatever was passed in the Assembly will be made as ordinance. In the near future we are not looking at a assembly session again, we didn't want to keep it in the dark. It doesn't have to go to the assembly, it'll be sent to council."

The proposed ordinance to ban conversions will be a replica of the Karnataka Right to Freedom of Religion Bill 2021. “No person shall convert or attempt to convert either directly or otherwise any other person from one religion to another by use of misrepresentation, force, undue influence, coercion, allurement or by any fraudulent means or by marriage, nor shall any person abet or conspire for conversions, ” the Bill reads.

True Hinduism – Live N let live – It is a way of Living
A group of Nuns from Vatican had visited Siddaganga Mutt, TUmkur and stayed at the mutt for a month. After their stay they were so impressed with the services of the mutt and all wanted to convert to Hinduism. Do you know what seer Dr Shivakumara Swamiji advised - asked them to return to Vatican and continue with their good work. That is the beauty of our religion, not dangle a carrot and keep converting them, torture the school childrens if they resist……………..

The question is why people convert? It's like you buy a new car or house because you believe the new is better than the old.
