There is a major development in the intensifying conflict in the Middle East. In a great blow to the militant group, Hezbollah has confirmed its longtime leader Hassan Nasrallah has been assassinated. Over the last three decades, Nasrallah has transformed Hezbollah into a powerful paramilitary and political force in the Middle East. He was targeted in a massive Israeli airstrike on Friday in a densely-populated area of Beirut. Multiple buildings have been levelled, streets are filled with debris and tens of thousands have been displaced. Nasrallah’s death comes during a sharp escalation of hostilities across the Middle East. U.S. President Joe Biden called it a “measure of justice for his many victims” but it remains unclear what it may mean for the widening war. Jeff Semple has more.

No country is more tied to Hezbollah than Iran and all eyes are on Tehran tonight. Hezbollah was founded in the early 1980s by Iranian Revolutionary Guard members to combat Israeli forces in Lebanon. It serves as a Lebanese offshoot of the Islamic Republic, sharing similar anti-Western and anti-Israeli rhetoric. Nathanial Dove reports.

In the U.S., the aftermath and scale of destruction from hurricane Helene is extensive with more than 50 dead and millions left without power. Days after the powerful hurricane roared ashore, flooding is still ravaging parts of the southeast. The storm barrelled into Florida’s Big Bend on Thursday as a monstrous category 4 hurricane, flattening homes. As it moved north, Helene dropped more than 60 cm of rain in some areas, unleashing a torrent of floodwater across Georgia, the Carolinas and nearby states. David Akin reports on the deadly deluge and the daunting clean-up.

Some four million Canadians are living with diabetes and a new national survey finds a majority say they've been blamed or shamed for having the disease. Health reporter Katherine Ward explains how this can impact a person's ability to manage the disease and what can be done to help.

It’s still a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving but many Canadian families are already planning their holiday dinners. That’s especially true for those who lined up on Toronto’s streets on Saturday, hoping to get their hands on a free turkey. As Vanessa Wright reports, it’s a revival of a tradition started by a beloved Torontonian.

Does anyone recall the passengers and crew who died on Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752 in 2020? Iranian officials admitted that its Revolutionary Guard had shot down the plane "by mistake" amid escalating tensions with the United States in the Middle East. Two of those students were attending universities in the Region of Wellington-Waterloo where I live. Iran never co-operated to explore "their mistake" & even today, grieving families still haven't the answers nor closures they were seeking. Iran?? No sympathy here with any of your leaders being killed. 👎

Not assasination.
There is no word assasination when you are at war that you started.

Why UN not condamn Hamas and hazbullah for this war?
Why blaming on Israel , who is trying to defend and retaliation?
