There's not many rules but having your cue on your chest is one of them.

How much pressure on your chest? Really loose? Really tight? In this video i explain the perf amount #snooker #snookerplayer #snookercoaching

Michael you’re videos are spot on, I’m trying to follow all you’re tips, my standard is about a 30/40/50 break once a week and you are helping 💥😃👌

Wish I learned this earlier. Improved my accuracy on all shots. A big difference on power shots, particularly.

I have the cue just touching my chest for one reason: I am a muscular guy with big chest and I’ve found that by having the cue on my chest especially when following through, due to the nature of the cue tapering towards the thicker end where you’d grip the cue, the cue goes offline. I’ve tried working on this technique for a long time but wasn’t getting consistency with my potting. As soon as I just have it touching the chest and not pressed against it, my cueing action got much better and consistent. Guess some textbook rules about snooker cue action does very with different individuals based on their physical traits.

Great advise Michael! Wish I knew all about it years ago instead of trying to figure out all on my own and wasting all those years

nice to hear this from a grade A player. I wish I'd had access to your channel when I was 8 years of age. But my little boy will!

Gotta be that having a nice stable restraint on the chest, and timing the cue tip to hit the exact spot on the white you chose - makes for a nice cue action. Except, the wrist can still twist the cue off line I feel, and micro mm can still cause a miss. I always feel that the moment I let the cue go, I know if I made the shot or not, but never before.

Love your videos mate. I live by the ‘pot that to get on that’ approach that I heard you say in one of your videos. Cuts a lot of faff out when you’re dealing with so much stuff down on the shot. Could you do about video about where you look and why, as you strike the cue ball please. I never knew where I looked as I hit, then changed to object ball as I strike and improved. I recently started looking at cue ball at strike and have improved again, but it’s not consistent and thats what I want to get, so…..gonna hopefully book a lesson with you soon too. Anyway, loads of waffle, but big up on all the content, it’s great and have fun being back on tour….keep your head screwed on and you should do well mate

I'm pretty dumb. When I first saw a video where a coach is like 'touch your chest to your cue' I thought they meant the side of the chest, like running along the side of the ribs. I didn't realise it's just a matter of getting down really low until the front of the chest hits the cue. It definitely helps so much. I used to put right spin on all my straight shots before I started doing it.

This is really insightful, thank you. My cue seems to run to the side of my chest and to apply more pressure, I am pushing it to the left with my grip hand. Is the cue running more under your chest as appose to the side of it? Should I try and come down on it a bit more instead of to the side of it? I hope that makes sense.

What happens if yoire right-handed and you cue from under your left eye? I seem to find that if i want the cue touching the right side of my chest, but the cue under my left eye, I tend to look like Joe Swail with my elbow pointing inside and feel like there is some unwanted rotation/movement with arm/elbow on the forward motion when I strike which i am unsure how to avoid.

Would you recommend i play around with elbow position (i.e, see how it feels sticking my elbow out like Ray Reardon), or try to alter how i get down on the shot - as in, how my body sits around the cue (my elbow/arm on delivery)? Or something else.

Cheers, Michael!

Advice needed please ! Do you know or can you suggest a way to preserve/save a cue action ? I have found my perfect alignment, aswell as head body position - suddenly the game becomes very easy, cueball does exactly what is told, high breaks come in easy, and generally the feeling on the shot is very comfortable ! Thing is I play 2-3 times a week 1-2 hour sessions aswell as local tournaments once a month. Obviously its not enough practise time and it takes me 1 hour or 3-4 frames before I calibrate enough and that perfect alignment and feeling clicks… Please suggest a way to develop a routine that would allow me to click in from the first frame. I even have videos of myself from different angles when in the zone but I cant copy that fast enough and it drives me crazy :). Even mates are shocked how my game can change from poor amateur to advanced player mid game till I calibrate and it clicks…

Remember you telling me to get down on the shot like Neil Robertson and hug the cue like John Higgins and It’s done well by me

Michael you said you can't chop and change but surely you have to do that a bit at some point in order to find something that does work?.
