this is actually really interesting, what if there are way older clients that faded into nothing since back when it was single player who would wanna cheat alone? i know many a cheater who like to hack too annoy others so if Minecraft was single player who would they annoy?

I used to admin classic servers. WOM was a requirement 100% for everyone, griefers, players, and admins.

I would wake up every morning, hop on my 2 servers where I was admin, ban around 20-50 people for griefing the "main" level. Then go build/chat all day until someone yelled grief. With WOM I could be like a halo above everyone's head. I kept tabs on where everyone was and what they were building so as soon as someone typed grief I was flying at 10x the speed of the earth right toward the build to do a /xban

I really love these deep dives and history lessons on minecraft. I didn't get into minecraft until right around elytra being added I think and was playing on my ps4. I have learned sooo much interesting things about minecrafts past from your channel and just wanted to let you know it appreciated 😊

I get that he had valid points, but the way he carried himself on that IRC was funny to me.

I was quite young and innocent when Minecraft started making splashes, and being a broke and oblivious tweenager, I searched for Minecraft clients, looking for anything.

I happened on the WoM client download, and I was happy just to play the game, mostly on build and lava survival servers. While [ ] Enable hacks stood prominently on the client, I never knew or cared about they enabled via hotkeys. Toggling the checkbox gave you default increased speed, but I never knew more than that, and only ever toggled it to get over the pesky, near-impossible three-block or two-block/one up parkour gaps (those humble days before sprinting).

i love the minecraft classic videos
prob my favorite old minecraft era, yet it was forgotten and its mostly not documented
i like old classic minecraft more because it reminds me of the good old late 2000s early 2010s internet too

I used the WoM client in 2012 and have a lot of memories of playing on various Classic servers. Sadly I didn't take many screenshots or videos because my HDD was always full
