Cruise news today. Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has warned that escalating anti-tourism protests in popular Spanish destinations like Barcelona and Mallorca could lead to cruise liners boycotting these locations. NCL has announced its 2026 spring/summer itineraries. Starting April 16, 2026, Norwegian Jewel will offer seven-to-nine-day cruises to Bermuda, making Philadelphia a new cruise destination. Cruise line stocks for CCL, RCL, NCLH, and VIK.

I don't want to go to a place that doesn't want me there, time to find new ports to visit. Thanks for keeping us informed Doug.

Good morning Doug! Cruise lines will have to search for more receptive ports. They cannot jeopardize passengers where unrest is. The dollar talks loud so I trust there will be new destinations. Thanks for the updates and have a great day.

Mornin' Doug! I have to wonder if the trend towards larger and larger ships is contributing to the push-back from locals at cruise ports. Perhaps it's time to rethink the "bigger is always better" paradigm.
I'm kind of excited about the Jewel sailing out out of Philadelphia. If the fares aren't outlandish that would be a fun cruise.

Barcelona has always been overrun with tourists. When I went to university back in the mid 80s in Barcelona, the place was overcrowded back then. Much of the issue is Airbnbs, like Amsterdam, Barcelona is turning into Disney Land. These mega ships don’t help. We are seeing the effects from Barcelona to Alaska.

Great update Doug. Thanks

To be conservative, the average ship holds about 3000 passengers. If all those passengers spend $20 in a port, that's $60, 000 in a few hours for every ship, and that doesn't include what the port charges to dock there and the workers that tie the chips off and let them loose when they leave. Millions of loss revenue that I'm certain some other area would love to have, and the tourists wouldn't have to feel unwelcomed or even harassed.

As someone who did cruise out of Philadelphia on the NCL Crown i think this is a great that they are coming back i live in Jersey i can wait i wish more Cruise lines would use Philly Or even South Jersey as a cruise port so many of us either have to travel South to Baltimore Norfolk and further to vacation or the North Jersey NYC area which is just a seeming hassle. So many people for this area Cruise it just makes sense to place ships in our area saving passengers money and time to spend on the ships and ports of call .

Good morning Doug. If the people don't want our tourist money then we should go somewhere else. Like Philadelphia 🤔I might have to take a road trip.

Hi Doug. These ships 🛳️ have thousands of people on them now so I can see where it would overwhelm ports. Overwhelms me just thinking about it. But violence never solves anything. Can’t we all just get along. Thanks Doug.

Is the answer to port crowding, smaller ships which would expand visits to more ports and enhance passenger experiences?

It was to be expected that these big huge ships would cause overcrowding in time, but this time has arrived and there's anger and realization of the environmental consequences. So what is next? Hope you enjoyed Disney Shanghai. Have a great Thursday!!😊

Well, my cruise is suppose to go to 3 ports in Spain….and if they are still acting out like this, i will not blame my. Cruise line for not stopping there. I would love to be in Barcelona but there are other ports that would not mine visiting either…Born and raised in Philadelphia, certainly would have loved a cruise port there when i lived there. Thx Doug for the updates🙂🚢

I see both sides of this. I do think the dedicated cruise resort areas might be a solution
