When you buy a jeep you become a mechanic for free.

Can’t fault your grandsons logic…

“ I can buy damn near anything I want to drive because my Grandpa can just fix it if it breaks 😂 “

The fan isn't for cooling the engines it is for chopping up zombies so they don't get stuck in the grill 😂

When I was in high school I drove my dads 1947 willys to school. He had put a 289 Ford V8 in it with an overdrive. He had the springs beefed up for the weight difference. It had the steering all rebuilt and drove like a dream. No problem taking it on the highway. My cousin still has it and drives it .

My mechanic loves my well cared for 2009 Jeep Commander. He has only been working in it for three years and he has raked in an honest $13000 for repairs. He wants me to encourage you all to buy a Jeep. As your second takes a while to get parts.

I live in New Orleans, and with the streets here a Jeep is almost a necessity. A sherman tank would even suffice.

My wife used to have a 92 Cherokee. When that thing broke down it was sooo easy to work on. Everything was spaced out and could be done in 30 minutes to an hour.

I bought a 1990 YJ in 97 with 69K miles. It was a 5 speed with a 4 cylinder. I used to drive it on the highway all the time. I had it over 100mph quite often (that is the hillbilly speed limit in Northern NH LOL) The only issue I ever had with it was not being able to have a cup of coffee in it without spilling it. I put 125K miles on it over 6 years then my son drove it for 2 years before he left for the Marines. At 230K miles it still looked and ran great. No rust, no major issues. It needed a clutch when I bought it and the front rotors had a recall but it was due for brakes then anyhow so that saved the labor cost of a front brake job.

Jeep just needs some love. I drove mine for 10 years before it was stolen. Had a 78 cj7 and a 95 yj and built a few new ones. But a Jeep is a whole new experience compared to you're local car . You will learn allot from owning it and love it.

I saw a video where an actual WW2 Jeep was able to be put together by like 5 guys in a matter of minutes. They all hopped in and drove off in the end. 😆

Hey Scotty, Worked at a AMC / JEEP dealership 76-78..I remember the NEW ones went nice..Remember one had the 304v8 and dang what a fast unit.. 20, 000mi and they started to loosen up, turn into rattle traps and yes above 50mph and goin around a corner and fear begins to set in.. Picture of a seal laughing here..

I remember back in the 70’s people who had Broncos and Jeep’s carried those Gerry cans just to make it between stations. On a range conscious era, remember these vehicles only had a range of a little over a hundred miles.

I had a 1980 CJ7, 9” lift, 38” tires on high school. I put in a bunch of Ujoints, never had heat/ac, & ran out of gas (bad gauge) several times. 20 years later I’m still tempted to overpay for another & relive the great memories made in that Jeep.

I've had two DJ-5s which I bought from the post office for $600. When the first one died, I got another, also for $600. That's how much I liked them. For those of you who do not know, the DJ-5 is a Postal Jeep. The 1975 models I had came with an inline 6 engine. One of the spark plugs was practically unreachable because it was right up against the cab wall. I don't know what you call it. Another problem was that the DJ-5 requires 18lbs of pressure in the front tires and 26lbs of pressure in the rear. I discovered this the first time I had to put air in the ties. Eventually I replaced them and told the guy who put the brand new tires on NOT to put the standard 35lbs in them. He didn't listen to me, which I found out the hard way as soon as I pulled out of the tire shop. The vehicle was all over the road... no traction at all almost like driving on a slick track. Not only was the info in the vehicle's manual but also on a on a steel plate attached to the dash. Even so, I loved those little 'Light Utility Trucks' and which I had one to day, right hand drive and all.
