I work for a an offroad touring company with 70 Jeeps. The majority of the fleet are 1997 to 2005 with many of them well over 200, 000 miles and we beat the unholy hell out of them every day!.Original engines and transmissions in most of them! We have 10 2015 and 2016 jeeps with the 3.7l V6. Most of them are currently out of service for failed engines and blown transmissions at less than 50, 000 miles.

On the overheating problem, check the radiator cap first. Maybe it’s just the gasket on the radiator cap that is cracked and leaking.

A few years ago in Morocco I had a Rubicon with the Jeep 4 cyl diesel. Unbelievable off road ability and bullet proof.

It's 2019, Why can't manufacturer's make dependable, reliable cars anymore?

I’ve had numerous dodge/chrysler products and had no major issues with any of them. Do regular maintenance on your vehicle and it will last.

I absolutely don't agree with you about Fiat diesel engine. I'm italian, I hate Fiats, but i have to say and confirm that its diesel engines Mjt / jtdm are very reliable and solid. I think mjt 2.2 (the same of Giulia) in the new JL wrangler it's a very good idea.
Sorry for my english guys, i hope you can understand what I mean.

Well, Fiat's diesels are one of the best in Europe. 1.3 JTD, 1.9 JTD, 2.4 JTD are all excellent and reliable engines.

Well, honestly Fiat has a history of very solid diesel engines.
Maybe the modern stuff, but for example the 1.9l they put in 2000s Opels here in Europe - GM and Fiat anybody still remembering that train wreck? - are reliable engines. Best thing coming out of this dysfunctional relationship.
Got one here with over miles. First Turbo, first injection, first exhaust with kats and filter.

The tractors weren`t that shabby, too. Neighbor is running two of those for 30 years now.

What evidence do you have to back up the reliability claims you make about the new Wrangler engine?

Well I would disagree with you on the Fiat Diesel engine reliability, I have 2 Fiat Puntos with 1.3 litre Diesel engines. Both of them are used by my employees for my business and have more than 800, 000 kms combined. Have never cost me anything more than normal service items to maintain. Both of them still return about 17km/ltr in city with AC.

Fiat JTD is okay engine Scotty people in Europe are loving the 1.9 JTD in the Alfa 147 and 156.

Scotty, I couldn't agree more. Fiat LOL, now I don't feel bad about my 2011 Jeep Rubicon with the 3.8 L V6. I am pushing 140K miles and it still runs like a champ.

Fiat jtd engines are solid. I have one in my motorhome here in Europe. Sturdy and low consumption !

Smooth shifting automatics?
Man, the thing we loved about Turbo 400 was the way they slammed the gears.

Hi Scotty, just FYI that diesel engine is from IVECO, an Italian truck/industrial vehicle manufacturer and will probability be the most reliable thing in that car :)

The Italian made VM Motori diesel in my '06 Jeep Liberty is a rock, 350k km with torque up the wazoo. Beefy little tractor. The issues come in with everything around the engine, it is Chrysler after all 😂

Actually, Fiat diesel (JTD) engines are known as very reliable here in Europe.
