I really appreciate the effort that went into this comparison. An inexpensive bass ukulele like this could be a good starting point for someone who does not want to spend much, or can't financially spend much that wants to try learning and playing a bass ukulele.
Once interest is sparked, that can lead to spending more at a later date from a dedicated ukulele store. Your videos provide people that purchase this bass with an objective reference point in case someone thinks he or she has a dud.

Got the Hadean myself. It sounds so warm. I love it.
It’s actually my go-to practice bass right now, I’m kind of crunched for space.

Thanks for the upload. The Kala's tone is a bit brighter and has more definition. The Hadean is definitely usable and has a warm tone. I'll probably buy the Hadean, knowing it will get limited use. I played a Kala fretless yesterday at a local shop. The salesman gave me great advice. He told me that the fretted uke basses take time to get used to, being the frets are smaller than a standard bass. Hence, lots of fret buzz. He also said the intonation is not great the higher on the neck you play. With the fretless, you won't get the fret buzz and can compensate for the intonation issues.

I am truly impressed by the Hadean. It sounds way better then expected!

Kala sounds good, as always!

Which one do you recommend? Or is there not really a difference?

The McCartney shirt was a nice touch. I see what you did.

If price is your ONLY criteria, then go Hadean and have fun. If your ears can hear the Kala as ‘better’ then fork over the green for one. I wouldn’t use either one on a gig but I still prefer the Kala. On gigs, I use the Kala Solid Body thru an Acoustic Image Upshot w/300 watt AI Head! It’s a winner! (my wallet is lighter but my ears are happier!:-)

Great video, Thank you for all the hard work. I do kind of wish you had offered some pros and cons... final thoughts...

Overall the Kala sounds richer, but also seems to have more right hand plucking noise.
Even with that, I'd still get the Kala.
Thanks for these comparison vids.
Only suggestion I have is editing the different playing styles back to back between different instruments for an easier audio comparison between the two.
Otherwise, well done.
E.

IMHO the Kala sounds like it has a little more warmth and punch, but both instruments sound pretty good.

I think it would be really helpful if you produced a video that might help U-Bass players identify good, affordable practice amps and headphone amps for U-basses. I've been looking at the Spark 40 amp for my Kala U bass. I have heard that the speakers don't produce a good bass tone, but I would primarily play my Kala through the Spark 40 while wearing headphones. So I'm thinking played through headphones I'd be able to use the Spark 40 to get nice tones out of my Kala. But maybe there are other ways to go with a small practice sized amp? i also wonder about headphone amps. I have a Vox Amplug 2 for bass which I'm not terribly crazy about. I wonder if the Valeton or Ashdown headphone bass amps might be better. I imagine there are other U bass player with these kinds of questions.

This was really helpful! I'm thinking about getting one. Would you recommend a regular electric bass or a U-Bass?

this may sound silly, but i am wondering if i should get a bass uke to see if i want to go any further and play a full size bass in the future after first learning on that.
I figure since the note layout is the same and the low end sounds of both the uke and a full size bass guitar sound similar as well - it would be a a good money saving investment to start learning.
Plus not to mention - i like the size of the bass uke vs a full size,
I'm interested in your opinion.... Thanks

I have the Hadean. I put Aquila Reds on it. Sounds great to me.

I am thinking of getting a Ubass, Kala version, and was wondering if I could play it into my acoustic amp I use for my guitars and standard ukes. It’s a Fender acoustasonic 150, definitely not a bass amp per say, but would it work? Thanks

I found some defective products of hadean and kala on Chinese shopping platform. They all seem to use the same shape and the pickups are from the same brand of manufacturer in Huizhou city, I guess the two ubass may just be the difference in wood material

Hi, what is the second thing you are playing on the Hadean, is it a blues scale? Thank you in advanced.

Great video! One thing though, i do feel like you should change how you do your thumbnails as they appear very clickbaity and just offputting, which totally takes away from the great content im here for. Just a thought! Edit: i should also say that im talking about the last two videos with the emojis and arrows and what not.

Would you ever consider doing a review of The Microbass 25 from Gold Tone? I'm interested in your opinion on the longer scale of the Microbass. I've had an Asbory 18" scale bass for years, and it's just too tiny.
