5 Quick FACTS about EMPEROR PALPATINE/DARTH SIDIOUS-Darth Sidious, born Sheev Palpatine and also known simply as the Emperor or Emperor Palpatine, was a human male Dark Lord of the Sith and Emperor of the Galactic Empire, ruling from 19 BBY to 4 ABY. Rising to power in the Republic Senate as the senator of Naboo, Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine was a secretive Sith Lord who cultivated two identities, Sidious and Palpatine, using both to further his political career. He orchestrated the fall of the Galactic Republic and the Jedi Order through the Clone Wars, and then established his reign over the galaxy which lasted until his death at the Battle of Endor. However, the dark side of the Force gave rise to powers which allowed the Emperor to return from the grave. Born on the Mid Rim planet Naboo around 84 BBY during the Republic Era with the noble Palpatine family belonged to the affluent class in Naboo society, Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine possessed a strong connection to the Force, and was secretly trained in the ways of the Sith by Darth Plagueis. He eventually killed his Sith Master in order to train his own Sith apprentice, Darth Maul, for the Rule of Two limited their ranks to two Sith Lords at any given time. As a result of the Invasion of Naboo, a crisis orchestrated by Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine, the Senate elected Palpatine as Supreme Chancellor. The Separatist Crisis and the Clone Wars were masterminded by Sidious and his new apprentice, Darth Tyranus, in an effort to achieve galactic dominance. Following an attempt to arrest the chancellor, the Great Jedi Purge commenced with Sidious enacting Order 66. Palpatine was raised in the cultured city of Theed, his homeworld's capital; he formed connections with a reputable host of credible politicians produced over the centuries, all the while acquiring a great amount of knowledge on governance and the subtleties of power during his youth. The details about how Sidious came to study under the Sith were known by very few, with it not even being known of when he did. But he became the Sith apprentice to Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Plagueis and took on the name Darth Sidious. As a Sith Lord, Sidious learned all his Sith Master knew about the dark side of the Force, following the tradition first set by the ancient Darth Bane. While apprenticed to Plagueis, Sidious constructed his own Sith lightsabers.
While training with Plagueis, Sidious was taught that two Sith were required for their perilous machinations. So, if they worked together in accordance to Darth Bane's Rule of Two, with one of them serving as bait for the dark side of the Force and the other as a vessel, they would succeed in acquiring the ability to harness the full power of the dark side and rule immortal for ten thousand years. The Rule of Two doctrine planted the seeds to allow the Sith to amass power in the shadows and to garner the strength necessary to get their revenge against the Jedi Order. The Sith Rule of Two was instrumental in the Sith's ability to slowly work at toppling the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. During the Prequels and Original Trilogy, the Sith Rule of Two was on full Display. Although Darth Sidious strayed from this doctrine at times, the Sith Lord had Darth Maul as his apprentice, followed by Darth Tyrannus aka Count Dooku, and then finally Darth Vader. The Sith Rule of Two allowed for Darth Sidious to become the pinnacle of Sith power that could supplant the Jedi Order and Galactic Republic as the predominant institutions of power in the Star Wars galaxy. The Rule of Two ensured the relationship between a Sith Master and their apprentice was not one of trust; indeed, both the master and the apprentice constantly searched for any sign of weakness in the other, for a weak master deserved to be overthrown by their pupil, just as a weak pupil deserved to be replaced by a worthier, more powerful recruit. Additionally, while Darth Sidious has this vision in the Force, he begins to think about his apprentice, Darth Vader, and Vader's motivations and desires during the events of The Empire Strikes Back.

Nice of Vader to mention the Final Order to his son while he was dying ...

You forgot about how he met Jar-Jar shortly after his exile, sensed an overwhelming power inside of him, taught him how to better use that power while also keeping it a secret from someone who can sense that thing, and likewise learned how to better control electricity through teaching the Gungan (watch the way Jar-Jar just necks a beam *that holds two screaming rockets together, * with a metal object in his hand if memory serves, and walks away with little more than "numb-tongue")

Seriously, Maul was just a Sith trained assassin, he wasn't Palpatine's apprentice, he was a tool.

Jar-Jar was the _true_ Phantom

So he was planning on having ships with planet destroying cannons and wasn't worried someone would just blow up his death star.

I love how legends is all character driven intrigue, and the sequels are just "infinite ships with infinite power and my everything barrier." Such awful writing after Disney got a hold of the reins.

Ya because Vader knew the ridiculous plan, but neglected to mention it to Luke after his redemption.

You forgot another fact: He is the Senate.

I wish they'd stop trying to rehabilitate/bring in sequel references. Those stories failed. They had a handful of good ideas but were mostly just poorly-executed cash grabs without an overarching theme or plot.

He didn’t actually kill him in his sleep, he got him super drunk with wine and then used force lightning on him which disabled his breathing apparatus and he basically choked choked to death with the help of continuous force lightning

No, Sidious broke the Rule and Plagueis knew about this. Sidious accepted Maul as apprentice and Plagueis allow this.

Plagueis death and Maul "death" were in same time. Right after Sheev Palpatine was elected and promoted as the Supreme Ch.

So they broke it.

Wait, i just realized, so, the contingency plan would've fucked Vader regardless

If Luke had killed palpatine due to Vader not stopping him, would the empire ALT F4 itself anyways? Or can they veto the order themselves?

Or would Vader and Luke's reign be short-sighted?

Here's another canon fact about Emperor Palpatine: he threw the fight against Mace Windu.

"The lightsabers may well have been unbreakable, but that did not prevent one of them from being lost during Palpatine’s battle with Mace Windu. Toying with the Jedi Master in anticipation of the arrival of Anakin Skywalker, _Palpatine was willing to allow himself to be disarmed to appear more vulnerable when his soon-to-be apprentice arrived._ His office window was shattered, and the weapon fell from his hands and down into the depths below _when he deliberately left himself open_ for Windu to deliver a kick to his chest" [emphasis](Fanhome, 2020).  This citation from the official, licensed, canon encyclopedia of Star Wars is irrefutable confirmation that _the Emperor threw the fight._
