I'm so glad I watched your video before buying an antenna. We use philo for our streaming service and are very happy. But they don't offer local channels. Now for the $27.00 a month plus the new antenna, thanks to your suggestion, we get everything we watch for less than $30.00 a month. Vs through DTV where we were paying over $250. A month to watch just 13 channels. Your the best Clark!

Thank you Clark Howard for sharing your infinite well researched gold once again. I always look to you or Bob Vila when needing sound quality advice. Very grateful for you

You need to know the actual broadcasters channel number in order to pick the right antenna. Also are the channels UHF, VHF High or VHF low.

A lot depends on:
where you are at,
# of stations broadcasting, topography, hills & canyons.
Way outside Denver behind a few mountains and in a canyon I only got 2 channels, (& one didn't count, 24/7 Spanish church.)

The term digital antenna is just a marketing term. The antenna itself is not digital. Even old antennas will work on digital TV.
Incidentally, I am a ham radio operator and have designed and built antennas for 40 years.

My question is what sort of outdoor antenna is for what? - yagi (like those with all rabbit ears); the one with loop type antenna?, etc?

Your advice has not worked for me on my Sony tv with an antenna and I can see my Wilson from where I live in Rancho Cucamonga ca. apartment ‼️‼️‼️

There is no such thing as a "digital" TV antenna. Older TV antennas that picked up the older "analog " TV broadcast signals will pick up "Digital" TV signals . Everything else is marketing hype. "Digital TV antennas" are marketing BS. One more thing, I'm an electrical engineer that specializes in antenna design and theory. Also, been an amateur radio operator for over 40 years building and designing HF, VHF, UHF and satellite antennas half my life.

I'm going to have it professionally installed! He's going to charge around 200$ I'm in an apartment over 60mls from Chicago and I'm on the 3rd floor so he said? I'll kick but? I bought a 60ml one and only got a few channels the odd number one's that DirecTV doesn't have but didn't get 911 on channel 32 abc, 7 came in here and there! I've got a year old samsung smart TV but it doesn't have a antenna scanning and you really got to search for it! But I'm tired of watching reruns and all the channels or network's going to a plus version like discovery plus and history is history vault! This is a bunch of bull
