My second, I was told to come in for "training". Which was actually them showing me a thing and saying, "What's your availability for today? Oh, 10am to You're gonna work the whole 12 hours!!"

my first experience as a barista was at a very high volume shop that could not take the time to teach me everything and allow me to observe and get comfortable. i never really settled in and i ended up leaving because it felt so disconnected and made me unbelievably anxious knowing that we were all rushing so much, half the staff prepared drinks differently than what was expected as standard. we got so many complaints... be kind to your coworkers; you can make a bad job a good one just by lifting the people around you up. especially in good service and how stressful it gets.
